You have to love KZbin comments. People asking why he'd gybe in these conditions... Because its fun! Its like asking why they're sailing and not sitting at home watching TV.

Lifting the centreboard aids gybing, centerboard is the cause of this as without the centreboard the boat will turn around . The centerboard provises resstence to heel generated by the boats mast. Senior Instructor, Will

His centreboard is up. The boat has too much heel and he misses the toe straps

@Janson540123 Well, of course you gybe. And yes, you "should" be able to gybe in any condition, however capsize is more common on gybes.Once, long ago, racing in 30 knots in March, the water was 39, (aka 4) and earlier I had already dunked a couple times gybing and it was too damn cold to do that again! So around the gybe mark, I tacked instead. You don't have to "cross the fleet" you just turn quick circle in those conditions, nobody is around -- fleet spread out. Lars G. won that regatta

was sailing on wensday im 14 i was sailing in gusts of 30 kts and i capzised 2 times on a lazer pico and i sailed a topper

lol, I did that when I first learned how to sail on a sunfish, didnt capsize, but I flew off and broke the tiller.
