Great idea what laser are you using or is a 3D printer with a laser head installed? I haven't seen many that have a moving table instead of a gantry system.
@MadeByMervich2 ай бұрын
I have a snapnaker artisian 3 in 1. Its a 3d printer, cnc, and laser engraver. I have a 40w and 10w diode (there are more lasers and more to come). I do all my high detail work with the 10w.

Great Work!!!! Question, is your base coat of white 2 layers like your colored top coats?
@MadeByMervich8 ай бұрын
Yes, i try to do 2 layers of base (white). It helps even out the canvas. Then layers of color. And only 1 top coat of black.
@freddydvp856511 ай бұрын
hello, great video. I don't have an engraver yet, my goal is to only engrave on canvas, but I don't know if a 10 W engraver is enough to engrave quickly enough. Is there a relationship between laser power and engraving speed? I'm considering buying the 10w falcon but I'm afraid that eventually I won't buy the 20w! What advice do you give me to do the same type of work as you? Thank you for your response and long life to your channel.
@MadeByMervich11 ай бұрын
So laser power doesn't reflect speed. Laser power is how deep the laser can penetrate a material. The machine itself is what limits how quickly a project can be completed. But if cutting materials, the higher the wattage, the less passes you need to do to make a cut. Now, with that said, the higher the wattage, the larger the laser dot is, and some detail is lost (not much until over 50w). Before you make a purchase, just do a lot of research to ensure you get what you want. You dont want to buy something, and end up buying another one. Make one good purchase.

Thats awesome! What software do you use to create the g code?
@MadeByMervich11 ай бұрын
I have a snapmaker artisian, and it uses a proprietary software called luban. I can plug lightburn and other software to it, but it does everything I need it to do without any additional cost.
@ChristineD-fu9wj11 ай бұрын
Wonderful outcome 😮. Is your laser co2? I'm hoping to try some canvases soon.
@MadeByMervich11 ай бұрын
@ChristineD-fu9wj No, it's a 10w diode laser. If you can engrave on wood, you can engrave on canvas.

Can this be done with a fiber laser or diode only?
@MadeByMervich9 ай бұрын
So... I dont have any experience with a fiber laser, but if you can engrave on wood, you should be able to do this also. You may need to have very low power. The general idea is to burn off only the top layer of black to expose the color. It may take some trial and error, but i would think you should be able to.
@kendrahwiltz80749 ай бұрын
@MadeByMervich thanks for getting back to me! The fiber laser is mainly for metal and acrylic but I do have a 10w diode. Do you think that's enough power?
@MadeByMervich9 ай бұрын
@kendrahwiltz8074 it certainly is. I have a 40w and a 10w and i use the 10w for all these high detail artworks.

This is fantastic. Where did the image come from? I'm wondering how to create this style using AI. The mechanical elements that you've added take this one over the top. I've found that some Rustoleum products emit fumes that will make you queezy during regular use. I cannot imagine what comes off this paint when nuked by a laser. Just saying, surely you already know. Thanks for the video!
@MadeByMervich10 ай бұрын
I have a drafting and design degree, and have been using high-end softwares for 16 years. I create all my images myself using Photoshop and other similar software. I use images and layer them, then effects to get what I am after. For the fumes, they do emit some fumes, but i have a really expensive air purifier directly connected to my machine. The filters are $200 for just 1 filter. But it has been great, and there is nearly no smell. My machine is in a room and next to a window in case the smell does get too bad.

i absolutely detest videos that tell me to watch their other videos to get the rest of the process. While this might be ok if the viewer has already watched previous videos, it is very annoying to people who have not. I stopped watching your video in the middle and gave it a "Thumbs down"
@MadeByMervichКүн бұрын
I understand your point of view. The issue is long videos do poorly due to people loosing intrest quickly. So to keep videos using canvases short, I reference my original video (35 mins long) where I go over the fine details in the prep-work on what your looking for. I do my best to please the majority, to the best of my ability.
