My first few days of testing are done and so far so good. Lets look at where this machine falls in the craft of laser engraving.
For templates that I have made, check out my Etsy shop. I build files for projects and tools for laser engravers as well as CNC project files.

I have this machine and I absolutely love it. I have burned everything with no problems. I appreciate your views on it. I was one of the few that was asked to test the faster speeds. That was a learning curve for sure. I love your videos. Keep them coming.

My laser is the LP4. Little hack for the cone... use the software and set it to 20 or so and hit the up arrow. It will lift it up 2cm which is enough to pull the cone off to set your items... Then you put the cone back on and hit the down arrow, which will take it back to the previous position to engrave. I have the enclosure too. My only complaint is it contains the smoke, which it then sucks through the laser cooling fan, which I'm afraid will eventually gum up the innards. Great video, as always, btw. Hope you're well. -Mike

The enclosure just seems like a better approach with the right ventilation. Glad you like it.

I have had LP4 for a year and it’s been great I have a Knife Sharpening and laser engraving business I have done many knife engravings with it at 8K 100P it does a great job. Clack the trick to LP4 and dealing with the cone is this 1- focus your two dots in preview you will see lift height. Enter like 20 or 30mm into it. Then click up and it move what you put into it out of the way. To get it back into place just click down and it moves exactly the same amount back into place. Make dealing with the cone much easier you do have to enter it each time as it defaults back to 1mm a click when you go to do another engraving. The cone is good for taking the laser to things to engrave that you can’t fit under it. I did order Xtool F1 Ultra because I get a lot more work now but this was a fantastic starter machine for me. Also it doe work with Light Burn just fine. Many users use it we have a very good Facebook user group.

They should add a “raise cone” button… that sounds like it would work, thanks

LP, to me, seemed to be an innovator for home lasers when LP1 came out. I can see the "inspired" parts in other companies that followed, especially including multiple lasers in 1 unit. I think it still has a home, especially for niche work. I don't think I would use the extra attachments myself, but they do seem nice. And I agree about the cone. It seems a good idea if you need to use it for hand-held engraving, but on the desk, I would prefer the enclosure or shields like some other fibers.

Yea, that is my only real complaint from my perspective.

I have one of these and it’s pretty slick. For some reason the anodized cards turn out better on the LP4 than on my F1. Both are great but the LP4 IR seems to turn out better for me for some reason. I got the enclosure with mine and it’s a good investment. Handy device and the software has gotten a lot better since I first got it.

I was pleasantly surprised with the LP software. The enclosure would be a great addition and make the work flow better.

I have the original LaserPecker (small cylinder looking thing) and got the adjustable stand and enclosure. It was my first laser machine and was very surprised at what it could do. LaserPecker has come a long way (and astronomically more expensive) but they were always high quality laser engravers. I'd bet there is an auto focus on that machine. Mine has autofocus and with the adjustable motorized base it will automatically adjust the height to the correct focus. I have since moved onto bigger higher powered lasers but still pull out the LaserPecker every once in a while for the nostalgia it brings me. It's still a very nice laser even now (plus it will run off a portable battery bank). Great video.

Yea, maybe I missed the auto focus. I really would have liked having the battery bank, more so than the sling bed.

I only run my LP4 on Lightburn. LPs software is buggy as hell

I just didn't like the way it ran in lightburn. Maybe it would just take getting experience with it.

@@TheClackShack I can see why you wouldn't like it. It was my first venture with Lightburn so I didn't know better. I liked it and had far less issues than I did with LPs software which was SUPER buggy. Lots of issues, and many documented in their FB groups. All those issue disappeared when I switched to Lightburn. I originally switched to Lightburn to learn the software as I knew I'd be adding another laser, which I have now done with a Lasermatic MK2 XW. I was prepared to use it right out of the box since I familiarized myself with Lightburn already. It was nice being able to do basic things like pause a job or stop a job for whatever reason and just restart without having to disconnect from the machine and reconnect, which is required with the LP4

Sorry but I had to stop watching when you said it wasn't really Lightburn compatible.

It is but not as easy as their software for just burning. I still design in lightburn. Like most machines with their own software, it just doesn't seem as fluid.
