Huh... For me, after the "theory test", we're scheduled for 1 to 1 lesons with the instructor (an instructor can take a number of students) 6 hours of car basics. Though 1 hour of that is just explaining how the car works and all the parts and stuff you'd have to check. The next lesson that came _after_ is actually driving on the highway. No arguments. Also, did I mention that mine was 1 week+ AFTER the first practice lesson? I didn't practice anything because we weren't given the L stickers, though we did get our L license. I'm learning for a manual transmission. Not 100 meters out the gate, there's a 2 lane roundabout which is the first I've seen. Since I'm driving for real, I have to switch gears which I was given 30 mins of practice. Starting (like entering 1st gear from neutral) the car which I wasn't really good at, so traffic lights became the bane of my existence. There's also other people that you have to watch for. Maybe this is normal, maybe not if measured with the 120hours in this video. And let me tell you, I felt EXTREMELY under-prepared. There's another lesson, a mock-up test, and then a test for real. Pass the test and you're in probationary.

I was late to driving. I went all throughout highschool without a car and I thought that was fine. However, I needed to get a license to drive my car to college. I had a lot of experience by that point though. MY mom started me out in the parking lot of the parks when it was empty, then drive around the park and then drive on the road outside the park and then back in. So doing the test was easy and required no study for me, as father car said in this video, although my cousin did take the test and found it much more difficult. The driving exam was good, I failed the parallel parking test but because this is Georgia USA, that wasn't enough to hold me back and I got my license. The first time I went to college driving, I went with my mom and sister and it was terrible. They screamed at me to slow down, watch that car, etc, etc. To make matters worse, they issued conflicting orders. It was horrible and stressful and a quarter of the way back my mom took the wheel. When I went to class on my own, it was peaceful and chill, although I did make circle turn (the circles that you go through when exiting/entering the highway) a bit too fast and screeched the tires a bit. I can understand nervousness, just keep practicing and it will come to you.

On roundabouts I usually look to the left to see if there are any cars coming towards me if not then I go and the person to my right has to worry about me so they'll stop for me. This is how it works in the UK

First of all, Happy Birthday 🥳🎁🎂🎈🎉 I'm from across the pond (New Zealand), and yeah I understand learning to drive, Organize chaos, a father saying "your 16, now drive", and having a father teach you how to drive. Yep, it's fun. Especially when hit restricted, "oh you can drive yaself, drive ya brother to school" but, dad, it's illegal to do that on ya restricted, "she'll be right"... Got pulled over by a cop. Dad had to bail me out of a fine. Good times... That was 6 years ago (holy sh*t where did the time go!!!!).

Your mirror issue may be because you didn’t adjust your cars mirrors to see as much as possible FOR YOU. Your father is most likely a different height and umm… shape so he would see different things in the mirror then you even though the mirrors haven’t moved(there’s also how you sit in the drivers seat that can affect your mirror veiw). A good thing to learn especially when driving someone else’s car is to adjust your seat and get in a position you’re comfortable driving in and adjusting all your mirrors so you can see as much of the road behind you through the mirrors as possible(it’s always good to tell the owner that you did this so they can change the mirrors back to how they like) another good tip when looking at your side mirrors you should hardly see your own car, the mirrors aren’t there to admire your car but to watch for others.
