Let's not forget that Lasha wasn't tested out of competition since he popped, so it is what it is - all you need to do to see these results is provide sb with no testing and good cycles to come off I time - you can have perfectly "natty" markers and still keep most of benefits of past roid usage. I just want to say that l have only started following weghtlifting and digging into its history within the past year. I have gained an enormous appreciation for these atheletes and this channel has done more than any other to cement my fanship for this sport. And while l now admire many weightlifting athletes in all weight classes, Lasha seems almost otherworldly. It's not just how big and strong he is. It's not just how humble he is. It's not just how much l enjoy seeing the love and trust between him and his coaches. He is literally demonstrating the demolishment of human potential limits every time he walks onto a stage. And that is an extremely rare gift, no matter what sport a person is in, or whether it's in the arts, or any other human endeavor. I think Lasha is destined to be not only the greatest weightlifter of our time, but maybe the best athlete of our time. And maybe even the best artist. Because never missing a lift is also an art, right?

Lasha is not only the greatest weightlifter ever but also one of the best athletes ever, at the level of Bolt and many others...
@keithlilly62422 жыл бұрын
I would agree but he would have to be the best at something else. Being the best powerlifting means you are just that. His hip mobility would make him an ideal offensive lineman. Did he play any other sports? I know he was fun to watch lift.
@iRickcast12 жыл бұрын
@@keithlilly6242 No, you are merely ignorant of real accomplishment in this sport. You ever go as far as to call it "powerlifting", which is not even the same sport. Your ignorance speaks for itself. Lasha one of the greatest athletes to ever live in his own right, he does not need anything else to be great.

What an amazing video, thanks for the footage and the context. More people should see this. I agree there was nowhere near enough recognition in the last competition in terms of what was seen and done. It's similar to non-lifters seeing someone snatch a weight that 99.9% of humans cannot imagine deadlifting and say "that's good".

You have done more to promote the sport of weightlifting than anyone else since the legendary Bob Hoffman. Of course, he didn't have the benefit of social media, just Strength and Health, the flagship magazine of the York Barbell Club. That said, I think your commentary/coverage is the most erudite and informative that I've ever read or heard. Keep up the good work. I noticed in this video photos displayed of Issac Berger and Norb Schemansky. Both were lifting heroes of mine when I began competing in the 1960s. The press was my best lift, though I understood why it was dropped from the program.

Good luck Seb! One thing I always missed was knowledgeable commentary on these presentations so it will be good to see that addressed. In any other sports broadcast you are inundated with statistics. That keeps things interesting and gives perspective. You obviously have a love for the sport and a knowledge of and access to the athletes in a way that will make this great. One thing - with your influence, can you do anything about the cheap plastic chairs they give these poor lifters to sit on? 😆
@thatguyfrommars37322 жыл бұрын
Outstanding video, but the "quick lifts" are not exactly the best test of raw strength. I would argue that the strongest olympic weightlifter ever was Paul Anderson, who squatted 855 lbs for 6 reps and over 1,000 in training. He cleaned and pressed 220kg with no thigh contact, and snatched 170kg in the same way. His push press was 247.5 kg (545 lbs)... Hardly anyone else since has ever matched his feats, and perhaps no single person could do all of them together. In my opinion the strongest man in the modern era.
