TRIVIA: Tito Vuolo (1873 or 1893 - 1962) was an Italian-born American actor was the epitome of the usually genial and understanding Italian, during an era when such sterotypical characters were routine on both TV and in film. His movie career began in 1946 with an uncredited appearance as a waiter in "Shadow of the Thin Man", and finished with 14 movies to his credit and numerous TV series parts. His final film appearance was in the science fiction thriller "20 Million Miles to Earth". In this Lassie episode Vuolo plays the Italian burro owner "Tony", who is portrayed to be softhearted, yet leaves his "Josephine" to die a cruel death of starvation abandoned in the woods. Quite a harsh ending for the poor creature, but this episode gives a clue of the shift in direction for the Lassie series away from the Vaudeville type light comedy to more "serious" drama.
