Klusener was dropped from South African team after 2003 World cup because he had refused to play under captaincy of inexperienced Greame Smith.That was the turning point of his career.Though after 8 months he once again got opportunity to play for South Africa but he wasn't was at his best.After the flop show in 2004 Odi series in New Zealand,he was permanently dropped from the team which forced him to announce his retirement from International cricket.

Easily the greatest all rounder to play cricket in both test & odi formats. Sad to see by the time T20 became familiar he has taken retirement. Lance klusener made his debut against India in India during sa historic tour to India in 96/97. This boy klusener was just ruthless tiger that time. Fearless, ruthless & dangerous at the same time. Would come at 7th or 8th down the order & win matches for proteas at the death overs. No one could perform the way klusener had that never say die spirit. Easily would had won the WC 99 had Donald had taken that single in the semifinals against Australia. A fantastic bowler with some great variety & a fantastic finisher the game had ever seen.
