He was a wily fox with an aggression of a tiger and composure of an elephant. I remember him bowling to Tendulkar with two or three outswingers all of which were hit for fours- and then the third or fourth ball swung in sharp from the same spot and Tendulkar was clean bowled. It was all a trap set to dismiss the master when everyone would think he got on top of the Swing King.

If I'm correct and you're speaking of the same game. The bowled wicket delivery was a consequence of wasim slipping in a well disguised slightly slower one to which Sachin committed and ended up playing a bit early (which is why he played over and missed it) It was nothing special in terms of the delivery itself. The ball didn't do anything way too special. But the skill was in disguising the slower change of pace to deceive the batsman in playing early. And that is what made it special.

My favourite bowler ever - Wasim Akram the king of swing. When i was younger i never used to understand this thing called setting up the batsman. Even when you watch highlights you don't realise it as they only show the wicket taking ball. You only realise these things in longer format games and when you watch it live (on TV). We were quite lucky to witness the Pakistani bowlers in their prime. The odis especially were slow poison. Things twisted and turned. Bowlers could defend 250 even 220 and Pakistani bowlers could defend even lower scores. There was a magic in it which is probably lost in the T20 format. I hope the ICC addresses the imbalance between bat and ball. Now it is only a game for the power hitters and nothing for the bowlers (although this t20 world cup was a pleasant exception)

No doubt that Wasim Akram could swing the ball either ways but if you look closely, the way he adjusted his fingers before the release of every delivery made him incredibly difficult to read. That ball which got Dravid was released way out leg stump and ended near 1st slip.Dravid had to play else his off stump would have been humbled. What a delivery! Indeed Wasim Akram is one of the best bowlers of all time.Anderson next and Bumrah almost is their trail.

He was diabetic patient at that time, he then became the greatest bowler of all time. One can think how difficult it is to fight diabetes and become goat.
