Last Chance for Aggressive Horse // Aengus' Story

When Aengus first came to the rescue, we'd already worked with several horses formerly labeled "dangerous," but none with aggression as significant as his, so we approached his case with guarded optimism. His former owner, after all, had been attacked and was ready to euthanize him because of it. While his owner didn't have Aengus' full story, we learned enough of what we needed to know about the roots of his aggression from the map of mistreatment written on his body itself.
Mountain Shadows Equine Revival is a 501(c)3 non-profit horse rescue located in Laramie, Wyoming. We are all volunteer-run and donation-supported.

Aengus clearly was enjoying the kind and light touch from Sarah…finally feeling relief from his agony rather than being forced into “dealing with it”. I imagine this horse suffering through ranch work in spite of his lameness. So grateful he made his way to you. He is stunning and clearly has changed. Thank you ♥♥♥

How ironic that horses like humans react to how they are treated. What a story about a lost, scared and hurting soul finally finding humans that were willing to care. It all makes sense about why he was so aggressive. Thankfully that new owner cared enough and Aengus was saved by your compassion.

Who knows what Aengus went through before the previous owner bought him. His ignorance caused Aengus to lash out defensively, if the owner was paying attention, he wouldn’t have gotten bitten. It’s nice to see Aengus doing so well; hopefully he will meet his perfect owner soon. 🙏

Very touching story about helping a horse in need. I have owned horses and loved to spoil them with attention and treats. I always had strong bonds with my horses and they always came to me when I called them. This video confirmed for me that horses are very honest creatures. If they don't like you or feel mistreated they will let you know by running away or becoming aggressive. It is comforting for me to know that the people who helped Aengus are out there. We need more people like them!

Like another viewer related to. If an animal is hurt or mistreated, they NO longer display trust to that group of people. If a guy or gal is hurt in a relationship the last thing they want is to try again with another individual be it male or female. Just how long does it take to re-establish trust?? Everyone or everything is different. Depends on the betrayal. Animals know no difference. Aengus just needed someone to make a investment in him. An investment of time, of loving him, of ACTUALLY wanting him in their life. Not everyone can or is willing to do this. Thank God your team was. For Aengus I thank you. I'm sure he will be a loving, trusting friend for the remainder of his life. Please find him that 1 special home. ❤❤❤

Thank you for knowing what to do. There are no bad horses, only horses that have had a bad deal.We enslave our animals. Aengus had no say about an ill fitting saddle or bloody horrible bits. Not to mention whatever abuse he suffered at the hands of some one. Breaks my heart. But you have done well. I pray he gets the owner he deserves and continues to improve.

My mustang mare ( now 17) had similar issues. I worked with her steadily for 2 years to resolve the problems.. She now loves , and trusts me implicitly but still has a few fear problems that we are slowly overcoming. Her name is Hadassah ( from the myrtle tree/ healing). She is due to foal in two months.

find someone who will let him live & graze & not be ridden. there is someone like that out there looking for aengus maybe they will see your video. share this so aengus can be found by the right person. when an animal has an attitude issue it's usually the result of human cruelty or ignorance seldom their fault.
