I was born and raised in Council Grove till I was 21 and moved away and got married. I love my hometown and it is a great place to raise a family.

I arrived in CG in 1970, age 6. People have hauled off the stones from Hermit's Cave since then, apparently. It looked like the original picture in this video in the early 1970's. The bell tower behind the ladies is the current stone monument. No doubt someone smashed the bell when they wouldn't stop ringing it after Garfield's assassination. 3 days ?

@@JulianGower The bell has a crack in it, just like the Liberty Bell. My inference, albeit a 'big leap', is that it actually broke from being rung continuously.
