I visited Mowtown in Detroit a few days ago. I expected to hear historical tales and some facts. What I also got was an incredible feeling of inspiration, and that feeling is staying with me so far. Places like Mowtown provide uplifting spirit that can help one pursue and achieve own potential.

I admire Berry Gordy so much. I joined the Motown museum many years ago when I visited for the first time and it was so exciting just to be in that building. This interview is interesting because you can tell he was just starting to come out of his “shell” sort of. He hadn’t had much training with these kinds of interviews until he wrote this book. So when Rose asked questions you can see him squirm a little. Now he’s much more at ease with these types of questions. “The Making Of Hitsville” is an incredible documentary fo anyone who hasn’t seen it yet…

I don't think the interviewer was the right person to conduct this interview. He seem to have a chip on his shoulder to me. Jealousy perhaps may be part of his problem. I thought he was pretending to be a fan.

Martha Reeves of Martha and the Vandellas said he severely underpaid the groups and musicians saying it was to pay the system. But she said he wasn’t doing anything the other record companies were doing, which is just an excuse.

Oh dear, the first thing an interviewer needs to do is get the name of their guest correct. He keeps referring to BARRY Gordy throughout the interview.

Wow. Charlie is such a bad interviewer. He goes from one thing to the other with choppy transitions. And bringing up Michael Jackson buying the Beatles had nothing to do with Gordy. .I'm sorry that Gordy was subjected to this.

The Charlie Rose show is two hours. Gordy's interview was over an hour it was edited for this video which is why the transitions are choppy.

Glad he's setting the record straight. Tired of people cashing in by speaking for others. Why didn't Berry groom his sons to run the company? Rumors & gossip hurt his legacy that's a shame. Once you get into the bed with an artist/employee professionalism goes out the window. Diana loved Berry and he didn't want to marry her. She gave him the greatest honor a woman can give a man and he still didn't marry her. Berry was her baby Daddy. Sure would like to read something from Berry's first & second wives.

All he did was try to gloss over the fact that he cheated his recording artists. Even Diana Ross herself only had 200,000$ to her name in 1980 when she left Motown. 16 number one hits, and that's all she had to show for it. She took 20 million dollar advance from RCA and never looked back.

Charlie Rose is a horrible interviewer. First he finishes the sentences of his guests instead of letting them speak. Several times, he cut Berry Gordy off and finished the sentence as if he knew what Mr. Gordy was going to say. That is a bad habit that most women have. They ask a question and then answer. Most women are incapable of shutting up and listening but men should be able to master the art of effective listening. As an interviewer, ask the question and let your guest answer it fully. Second, Charlie jumps from one subject to another with no segue. Third, he never held up Mr. Gordy's book. Clearly Mr. Gordy was there to promote his book, so hold it up for the audience. On a scale of one to ten, I give Charlie's interviewing and hosting skills a five.[]
