I spoke to a member of EHG, the developers of Last Epoch about how the item faction system's Favor and Reputation gain work for the Circle of Fortune and the Merchants guild. Alongside my own testing here's what I learned!

You also gain favour leveling alts, I did 1-50 without even looking at it and reached observatory with 18k favour. Also you gain favour spending it on prophecies at a rate higher than 1:1

I have noticed that completing Prophecies, gives a boat load of favor!

What about completing "leftover" quests from the campaign? I've ignored them after I finished my Idol stash and the skill points.

I know this is a late anwser and you probably already found your anwser. But anyways, I joined CoF and did 2 side quests after and got to rank 2 and some favour, like 700.

So now there is a reason to do Tomes of XP echoes. I usually ignored them as the amount of xp you get was negligible. I hit rank 4 CoF earlier tonight but it is gonna be a long grind.

Do you think its worth saving up favour for when you're in empowered monos? I think if you wait you would have better chances of good base types and higher tier affixes no?

Only up to the point where you could spend it to rank up - rank up if you can as those bonuses are insane.

If you’re with merchants faction, then just run the hardest content you can to get the best drops to sell.

Just a random datapoint but I'm at Rank 9 CoF and did a 3 XP tome echo (at 382 corruption if that's relevant, I don't know if it scales). It gave 1,059,900 XP for the 3 and 1413 Favor. Which works out to 750.1 XP per favor gained.

@ZiggyDGaming I did some testing / math further to your discoveries and found that the XP tome echo reward actually gives MORE LOOT than any other echo reward when converted to favor then items via prophecies. Basically 1413 favor is roughly equivalent to 2 ish uniques baseline, or up to 4.5 ish with lenses + R10 CoF. What this means is that even after you hit level 100 XP echos are still the best choice by far. I don't think lower level farming for favour would be an issue. At least for the CoF. Because campaign prophecies are specific (kill X boss) and mono prophecies are more generic (and plentiful). There are also prophecies that require a certain corruption. So doing monos you're farming favour for new prophecies and completing the ones you have at the same time

Does it even really matter if they farm campaign for it? They'd be missing out on stuff from farming higher areas, so it would seem to balance out anyway.

stacking XP gain from monoliths and full clearing when at 120% xp gives a ton of favor. if you can stack it higher then even better but i could only ever get to 120% extra xp before one of the bonus would fall off

I think campaign favor farming is fine, you're missing out on the rewards from farming Echos if you choose to do it like that. Blessings, Affix Shards, Sigils, Glyphs, Exalted items, etc. It's just not worth the loss in loot.

If you get EXP from them, then yes since the favor increases from exp only

I haven't watched your video yet, but I just reported a bug to Last Epoch as when doing the prophecy mechanic, I've had it give me a completely different prophecy than the one I selected, multiple times.

Why is it not good for the game if people farm the campaign? It's their game, If they're playing how they want, what does it matter? how will it effect you? I like that you can Join factions on brand new alts and start earning favor on them. I also like to get strong and kill things really fast, so Obviously killing lower level mobs is fun to me. I really don't understand how that's bad for the game

It's not good when people feel compelled to do something less fun because it's efficient. Developers have to work to make sure that the fun parts of the game are the most rewarding to save people from themselves as players will optimise their fun away (they can't help it)
