Crafting still makes no sense to me. I have collected HUNDREDS of crafting components (shards and runes) but EVERYTIME i press F to forge ANY item it says "You have no shards that match your current search and filter criteria." Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have tried dozens of different gear but it just keeps saying the same thing everytime its so frustrating. :(
@deucey679011 ай бұрын
@findlaycurtis hmm, I haven't heard of any crafting issues myself. Sorry if I'm about to sound condescending lol but you are putting the item into the forge yeah? Like shift right clicking the item you want to modify. Also remember that any runes or glyphs you use stay active in the forge until you manually click into them and hit clear so that could be causing issues if you tried using a glyph in the past and it's still actively slotted into the forge
@findlay8111 ай бұрын
@@deucey6790 ya i tried that and dragging the item in but it still always just says i have literally 0 crafting item, which of course is the complete opposite of the truth.

@findlaycurtis another silly question, just trying to troubleshoot for you and rule some things out lol. You are transferring the shards when you pick them up right? There's a button on the top right above your inventory grid that says transfer crafting materials or something along those lines. Like once you pick up the shards, you have to then transfer them from your inventory INTO your shard/affix bank

At around 11:00 you say that Rune of Discovery consumes all Forging Potential, but it doesn't. Part of the benefit is that it consumes zero Forging Potential to fill out all affixes. In the early game, I've used this to make crappy white items into decent leveling items during a time when I don't have twink-worthy uniques. It's still a niche use case, which I thought you were going to point out, since the affixes are more likely to be rare, and therefore it'll be harder to increase them beyond Tier 1, but it has some limited use cases.
@Tenkiei11 ай бұрын
I did not say rune of discovery consumes all forging potential, I said "you have random T1 affixes, and then all your forging potential is gone" IE: your forging then potential gets wasted spamming chaos or w/e trying to do anything with it. I get that sometimes it has some niche uses, but most of the time I'd rather just find an upgrade with 1 affix off the floor and craft a couple more after that since the campaign is pretty easy / fast so it feels bad to me to get bogged down in crafting a bunch. --- I think for a lot of people the more common use is going to be shatter fodder with a few niche cases here and there (such as leveling items on certain bases). Though for a 2nd or 3rd character I find I have ample shards for the leveling process since I don't tend to reroll until after I've played a bit.
@penguindrummaster11 ай бұрын
@@Tenkiei all fair points. It's the ambiguity of capital Forging Potential (the stat) and lowercase forging potential (the idea). Words are hard, lol. One of my favorite things is being able to craft unique items. I have a few unique to drop for me but they're not specifically for my class or even my build, but I did get a scroll that allowed me to turn the base version of a unique item. Pretty much a yellow generic breaking Boots into some boots for a shaman at summons vines as I walk around and I thought that was like the coolest thing ever and I'm noticing doing the leveling process. I can safely not worry about stats too much and just focus on the implicit stats while hoping to find some good affixes and suffixes and that's allowing me to pretty much save all of my shards for the end game. And I'm noticing the implicit stats are based on the item type. So let's say if something's called like Ruby ring all ruby rings are going to have the same implicit stats so you know the pretty much. Just keep your eye out for that specific ring if you're looking for upgrades and I like that system so much more like it's I like randomness but I would like some kind of consistency in the randomness. Right now I'm looking for turquoise accessories because of my build and I haven't found any. But I'm looking for specifically commanders turquoise accessories and then I can buff the affixes and suffixes from there and commanders I think is minion damage and the turquoise accessories always roll with minion damage on them too

The best part about crafting in Last Epoch that I enjoyed coming from PoE is the ability to play offline/SSF and actually use bases I find on the ground to craft with. The game feels like it’s deliberately designed to be a self-found experience and it’s refreshing to have easy to pickup crafting systems to support that. Not having to tab out to trade, watch videos or read guides is a plus for those of us that just want to login and play the game.

Completely agree. I love trade league in PoE and I go pretty hard every league. But LE makes me feel so much better when I'm crafting my own stuff and creating my own builds. Speaking as someone who has played POE off and on since launch, the crafting and amount of currencies has reached an absurd level. Over the last 4-5 years, POE has become a game that only caters to people that devote their lives to the game and to people that play 8-10 hours a day. PoE is truly for the neckbeards at this point.

Crafting in Path of Exile akin to a gambling simulator at the higher end. While there are many deterministic things you can craft, you will always be at the mercy of RNG with most crafts. Crafting in Last Epoch is intentionally designed to be workable for an offline-SSF player who just wants to pick up bases off the ground and improve them.
@skuamato788611 ай бұрын
On low to mid, yes. It's very easy to create a decent T18-T20 item. However, once you get to the point where only exalted items are an upgrade to your build, it can get a bit frustrating when you finally find the exalted base you were looking for, only to have it blow up in your face within 4 seconds due to bad crafting rng. In Poe, if you get your hands on the correct fracture base you want, that thing WILL turn into the item you're looking for. Eventually. What I like about LE is that you don't spend hours upon hours crafting. Every crafting process ends very quickly, one way or another.

You should never use it on exalted items. It essentially ruins the item's future craftability, hence why it reduces the potential for forging. I am not referring to the "Forging Potential" stat, but instead the item's usefulness when forging.

You say that it's difficult to master, but there is no 'mastering' this system. There is no skill or knowledge involved in losing 2/3rds of your forging potential in a single click on a drop that took 100 hours to farm. Imagine building a new house. You put up the frame for the house(you pick the floorplan, wow!), then try to install the drywall(you pick the materials, wow!). Halfway through installing the drywall, a giant foot comes down through the clouds and crushes your house. No, you don't get your money back, can't sue the contractor, and there's no insurance. You still owe money on that mortgage. If you want that house, your only option is to start again, working for however long it will take for you to afford it. That's Last Epoch crafting in a nutshell: it promises you a way to 'deterministically' enhance drops, but it's absolutely cancerous once you start the endgame and understand the realities surrounding it. In PoE, you don't lose your base on a bad roll: the game tells you 'That's okay, you can try again. You'll get it eventually.' In Last Epoch, you have a 9999/10000 chance of bricking your base and the game tells you 'Too bad, are you stupid enough to try again?' Last Epoch's crafting system is extraordinarily bad and seems to reflect the design philosophy of the dev team, much like their CoF/Merchant Guild design. It's the illusion of choice. In reality, there's only one sane way to play and everything that suggests otherwise is a shallow, dead end system that doesn't stand up to scrutiny past 100 hours of gameplay or so.
@mistakai422611 ай бұрын
Valid points. I still prefer it to PoE. It would be nice to have a way to reset forging potential somehow.
@aurovisuals792511 ай бұрын
idk that id go as aggressive as this at it, but yeah basically what you're saying. The issues with the game are that at the surface level, and mid level, everything looks reallly perfect. But there's no end point. In the purest sense of the word chase, Last Epoch has the most 'we dont value your time' chase that exists in any game ever made. Crafting is part of that, LP another part, Endless arena another part, blessing farm another part, etc.. etc... etc... There is a reward in that, and it can be fun, but that's because I dont want crafting thats too deterministic, i personally want to have stupid long grinds for things that I might never get etc... The people praising this because they do? Oof, they're in for a rough time in a month or so when they start to realise what the game actually is lmfao
