Yap. And the calculations are simple, I think people will understand. So if you have 10 base damage, you can either get an item with another +5 damage or an item with 50% added damage, because either way you look at it 10+5 = 15 or with the second item thats 10 + (50% of 10) = 15. If you understand this, then you can compare and say that a +40% is lower than a +5 flat. Or a +8 flat is lower than a +90% given this example. In any case, the game has stats and the skills will estimate once you hover over them so you can compare the resulting numbers there. There's also LastEpochTools website that can help with info about what damage comes from where.

The reason this is a good breakdown is because you just learned it yourself. I've tried to learn various different things from masters in their skill who have, in some cases, been doing it for over a decade. It's very hard to learn from them. Reason being is they've learned so much about their skill, that they've forgotten that they had to learn certain parts of it because that knowledge to them is like the back of their hand. They just assume you understand certain things because their brain lives in a state in which these things have become default common knowledge.

Maxroll sorta helps with stats for gear . For each build they give gear examples for each slot so that gives someone an idea of what stats are good for their build no uniques , then they have a list of uniques that is good if you find them for your build . So they do cover gear stats on maxroll builds . Maybe not as indepth but they do help people with this .

Hey Kanon, Congrats on be #1 Bladedancer in HCSSF to 100 and #4 overall! Great video and very helpful! I just beat the last boss (I think?) myself. Playing the game for the first time, softcore online. Playing as a Mage Runemaster. Just got to try out Monoliths, decided to check some videos on KZbin and learn a bit more about the game now that I think I've completed the campaign. Wanted to play and record my first playthrough of the game going in blind ^^* One thing very early in your video that helped me was you explaining how flat damage is often preferred over % increased damage. The flat damage numbers are usually so l have always focused on % increased dmg. But when I look at the flat dmg of weapons it's pretty low, so it makes sense!

I needed this. Thank you! The last step for me learning this game was how do I get top line gear. I was blaming hadn't died once until level 75 and fighting lagon in the echo he one shot me 3 tines with his moon beam. I had lightning and cold at 75 percent. And 1k health. He still was able to 1 tap me. I for sure needed better gear 😂

9:05 the list is missing multiplicative "more" multipliers such as mad alchemist ladle, and many passive skills, it is the biggest way of scaling damage outside of critmulti

My biggest issue right now is when following a build guide I find it difficult to stray from the bases they show. Do I just look for anything with t20 stats or do I prio bases with like t15?

You mentioned enemies have up to 15% penetration but I recall reading somewhere (I think loading screen?) it said that enemies have 1% penetration per area level so I thought eg in area lvl 50 I need 125% resistance to make sure I go 50% over cap

% is not "flat damage reduction" "Flat" refers to a flat, unchanging number. -50 FLAT damage taking off from every hit you recieve. 50% damage reduction is 50% multiplicative damage reduction, meaning you take half damage no matter what you get hit by.

Guess I haven't played this game enough but sure does sound like a lot of extra stats to know when some can be consolidated for an easier time along with skills not being calculated in your character stat sheet, things get pretty hairy. Afraid to start another character for that reason lol, and maybe just roll another mage with another mastery which how much I need to study the trees. For longevity though, game can last pretty long with this much variety 👍

This helped explain alot, the in built guide is not detailed enough. I went through the first 20 lvls pretty confused about my gear, and what to craft, also it doesnt tell you what stats your going to get when you upgrade. I then realised I had no control whatsoever as the drops are really random. Just had to roll with what I find. I also sold a unique piece of gear which I found out later after selling it that it was good for my class, that would of lasted me a good 15 lvls, doh.

This has been a super helpful video. Thank you. Just wondering though, i have some confusion with the actual weapon damage of the weapon, does that matter that much? Like a dagger has +44 melee damage as its implicit compared to +36 and then there is a speed modifier, how do i know which weapon is better?

everything depends but the weapon damage on the implicit you're referring to is flat damage and should be treated as such

Unfortunately not in game. You would need to use something like lastepochtools to put your build together and it will show your individual flat stats, or you can do it yourself.

Flat vs. Multiplier is a misconception, isn't it? It's sort of like Crit vs. Flat Damage. What is being multiplied IS the Base + Flat... the bigger the Base + Flat, the more the end result of Multiplication. If I have 5 Base (Character Class) and 5 Melee Damage, that is 10 Damage. If I have a Multiplier of 10%, that's 1, bringing me to 11. If I have a Multiplier of 50%, then that's 15. 100% is 20. So it's a sliding scale thing. A Low Multiplier on Low Output does... Low Things. But if I have 100 Base + Flat, 10% is 10, and a Flat 5 is just another Flat 5. So I would think it depends on where you are at in your build, and that these things work TOGETHER and not some opposing forces of 'which do I get?'... you get BOTH, they enhance each other.

Just put it in your stash/chest. It cost a low amount of gold and it's a unlimited amount of storage

This is a very good overview of stats and how they work, which definitely includes how they are on gear, but this isn't a gear guide. There isn't anything about gear rarities or farming or materials to get the ideal gear

I'm going to be honest here. Having to juggle resistances and cap crit avoidance, edurance, endurance threshold, health, etc is one of the most unfun part of these types of games (POE especially). It would be great if we didn't have to deal with it and just got to focus on the "fun" stats of damage, penetration, cooldown reduction, etc.

IDK what you're on about, because the buckets are very straight forward. You know what flat damage is, increased damage is additive, and we all know Crit strike multiplier is its own thing. And even when skills have their own damage modifiers, they explicitly tell you if they're multiplicative.

To me the stats are still weird in terms of threshhold of the stats itself. You are lvl 100, but you are using a weapon with a lvl req. of 52. Shouldn't there be lvl 100 threshhold in stats for items in general? It is weird to have a low lvl geared max char. Clearly I do not know a lot about this game, but I never had someone told me if this might be the case or if items are just low lvl items without much change in stats when dropped at a higher lvl which does not make sense for an arpg anyway.
