Normally player looks for overhead side to find weakness.. unfortunately the overhead smash by lin dan is his main weapon. And he was fortunate cause he was lefthander means he just put his overhead smash straight to the line. No need to crosscourt like other player cause majority of the players are righthanded

@@KRAST666 I would say only in their late years lcw was still in a very good form but ld had almost always better technical skills. Look at how many times lin dan gets the line or is nearly just lining up his shots on it. lcws smashes and lifts are sometimes very easy to intercept and his shot decision making isn't as good as chen long or ld. But his technical speed and strength along with his ability to disguise shots make him a very all rounded player indeed

Lee Chong Wei is definitely the pioneer of longevity in badminton. But it’s still amazing how Lin Dan despite falling off severely late in his career consistently beat LCW.

LinDan is best player.... Its very difficult to read his moves. Every return shots from LDan is going to make his opponent difficult to retrieve.... Very skillfull player. Deception is his game. Not easy to kill him. (Every point you have to take from LinDan. He seldom makes mistake to give you the point.)

LCW has a better footwork and accuracy. But LD is better at aggressive style and he has an undefeated attacking. But here what gives him the most advantage is his left hand as right handers are used to push the shuffle in the opponents left side which is LD’s Smash zone.

Every player has someone who they perceive as a ‘bogey’ opponent. LCW’s was LD. Who was the best player? LCW was, for me, the most graceful mover but LD had such a deceptive ease about him plus he was left handed, a bonus.

It's a really hard debate. Cause LCW beat everyone better than LD. But LD consistently beat LCW. So which one is better? The one that performs well vs every opponent. Or the one that consistently beats the other but does worse against everyone else? It might be that LD's style just beats LCW. Like rock beats scissors. But a rock is not stronger than paper. But if you have a 33% winrate vs an opponent over dozens of games, surely it's indisputable that head to head, LD is better than LCW.

You can only admire them both. LCW looks to be the harder worker, specially more athletic by training, a lean mean fightingmachine. LD is the cooler one, more of a natural player, therefore slightly more talented and slightly more technical in his play. For me the best and attractive playing sportsmen. Close in attractive style in later years was Kento Momota, nowadays Ginting and I am still very much surprised by Chou Tien Chen. Axelsen may be in the top 4 ever but his style is, European clumsy like, non attractive. Just my thoughts, thinks differently about it.

It goes deeper than that. Lin Dan was significantly more deliberate in his shot making/choice than LCW, so LD more often put himself in better positions than LCW. More often than not, LD was the one moving LCW. That is not to say that LCW didn’t employ tactics against LD but those were far less effective than the ones LD employed against him.

That is a sticksmash, is not so obvious on the forehand but on the overhead it is extremely reliant on the wrist. If you watched badminton long enough, you would know that Lin Dan’s wrist was the mightiest of them all and had the best sticksmash in the game. He could do extremely short strokes with virtually no backswing generate the same power as full strokes with just a flick of the wrist. That’s why he was also so deceptive.
