I remember watching the Merv GriffinShow with my Mom. We'd be laughing hysterically whenever Totie Fields was on the show!! Such a funny lady!!

Some posters below misunderstood the title here 'Last Merv Griffin Show' refers to the fact that this was Totie's last appearance on Merv. She had been very ill for months with cancer and heart troubles prior to this show being taped, and Merv was informed she wasn't likely to live much longer just before she arrived at the studio. The story goes that Totie threatened to walk off the show, if he called her 'courageous'

@@NoOne-kr4jc Because she had been ill for a long time and was sick and tired of being called 'courageous' just for being sick and wanting to work in comedy. That label is not funny. it puts distance between you and your audience and makes you morally superior. She wants them to see her as fat, ugly, a terrible cook, and lousy housewife.
