I have been wondering if I’ll get over that ‘last hump’ of healing. But this video is sooo true! Apathy 😂 I needed to just begin living normally! Over the weekend I went to a festival for 8 hours and I was dancing and jumping around!! The floor did feel slightly bouncy after jumping but it faded away! I paid no attention to it at all. I ate whatever the hell I wanted as well 😁 and the next day I felt completely fine and I went to my friends BBQ all afternoon! Just wanted to give everyone hope that this gets SO much better ♥️💪🏼

i’m day 7 of MdD, hearing about this and finding out was probably the worst and biggest trigger of all. Considering i’m only 20 years old I had a mental breakdown just questioning my life, and wondering if it’ll ever be the same again? Will ever get to go on boats, travel, hang with friends at movies or parties, everything that would just trigger it again. But finding you definitely helps and I think knowing how to control it now at such an early time can hopefully make it easier for my brain to bounce back!

Thanks Dr. Yo. this video exactly relates to where I am in my journey. I’ve resumed walking daily but have swapped outside walks for the treadmill as it allows me to hold on to the bars and outside walking for distances beyond a few hundred feet is one of the few situations that continue to trigger marshmallow walking/visual wobbliness. I would love to see you and Dan Buglio do a video together some time. Lots of what he shares can be applied to dizziness but I appreciate that you both have different backgrounds and are bringing your own talents, skills and experience to the world.

I'm going to do my best to get to 100% At this point in my journey, I feel the strategy of apathy really does work. @@TheSteadyCoach yeah, to be quite honest, outside of about 2 months or so, I really tried to stay practicing and going to class in Capoeira. I had already been attending classes for a few years, and after getting VN, of course, at certain points I was really scared I would have to quit for good. In reality, though I had to take it easy at times of course, it really helped me heal as fast as I have (along with gradually getting back into playing basketball), since it challenged my vestibular system in healthy ways, imo at least. It really does feel like the ultimate version of VRT, lol

@@TheSteadyCoach one other thing I want to mention is that about month 3 or so for me, I discovered the "Wahl's Protocol Diet". It's a diet designed for those with MS, which, among other things, seems to encourage regrowth of nerve cells, along with fasting (which the diet also encourages its users to do). It's still under research, so it's still being determined how effective it is. Now I don't have MS or any other autoimmune condition, but I thought that the principles of that diet would be useful for my own condition. It's pretty difficult to try and eat 9 cups of veggies daily (I usually landed between 4 and 6 cups), but I do think that diet was helpful in my healing as well

Hi Chatiqua, I know that it helps a lot when you feel like I'm talking directly to you! I want to reassure you that for MANY of the people I've worked with, there is not a clear differentiation between people with PPPD and VM. If you've taken the course, I explain in this in the first step. Some people have "classic" VM (true episodic attacks) and that is a bit different symptom-wise, but from my perspective, it's just a different spin on the same concept: the psychosocial elements of migraines that I talk about in the migraine video are a huge determinant of (a) whether you get an attack and (b) whether the attack causes symptoms. The basic premise of my channel applies equally to VM.

Hi Yonit, amazing video. This is exactly where I am! My fear and attention to it all is SO much less but I can’t say it’s gone. We’ve just been on holiday and a weird example that I saw that I am still hyper alert is we stayed in a lovely caravan and there was a large shower. When i first got into it, I could feel the slant towards the plug hole, it felt considerable but I was fine, I just noticed it. Later in the week I asked my sons and husband if they’d noticed anything about the shower tray. They said no. I asked if they thought it felt funny? They all said no. So, whilst on my own, I got one of my dogs balls and out of interest placed it the opposite side to the plug hole and it moved very quickly towards the plug. It kind of said to me that i was correct in what i could feel but the reason I was feeling it was because I am still so sensitive to movement or ‘levels’ of things. I have to say though that this didn’t worry or panic me which is good. I personally feel I’m still getting there with the apathy or indifference to symptoms but it helps for me when I do have symptoms to think ‘this too shall pass’ or ‘ I’ve been through this so many times’ It’s great you mentioned Dan Buglio, I’d so love to see an interview between you both !I feel Dan is very similar with his beliefs and positive attitude that people can heal. He even recognises other sensations such as dizziness in his videos, not just pain related. Thanks again Yonit, for your patience, care and understanding. I’d like to say as a positive that whilst on holiday I did so many activities I haven’t done for so long, swimming in a busy pool, I swam in the sea, noisy, bright amusements , eating out, go karts, I even went on a child’s ghost train ride and the bumper cars at the funfair. I drew the line at the rides my husband was going on (I’ve never been that keen even when younger) but it was brilliant and I just know I wouldn’t be where I am without your wonderful videos!! Thank you x
@TheSteadyCoach
@TheSteadyCoach 2 жыл бұрын
So interesting! Clearly the grade was there, but your brain is still looking for those kinds of sensations and "amplifying" them for you. Losing the fear is the most important part- the sensations themselves eventually will calm down too. I am thrilled to hear about your wonderful holiday and the bumper cars (!!!). You could not have done better "vestibular rehab." Onward and upward, Gill!

This is lovely to hear, Catherine! I am so pleased to hear you're getting back to "real" life! So if I am correct - being apathetic to your symptoms but understanding the emotions underlying your symptoms is the key? I have been progressing so much recently and the sensations are about 85% gone. But I think I'm still holding anxiety about family, going home, etc and going into the outside world. Is this what's holding me back? Also, do you recommend just laughing at your symptoms if they arise (opposite actions). Thank you so much, your knowledge, voice, and channel are a gift

Yes! You’ve got it Margot. First of all I am thrilled to hear about your progress- well done! Residual fears and anxiety can keep symptoms going but don’t blame yourself- do what you can to challenge yourself in self compassionate and kind ways. And YES laugh at the symptoms! I’ve had people tell me that instantly reduces them sometimes, but even when it doesn’t, it sends your brain that message of safety.

Hi Jeanne, wow, what a terrible situation. This is where working with a vestibular therapist in person would be so helpful. There's nothing quite like someone reassuring you in person and being there with you physically to help you push through. www.vestibular.org and www.dizzy.com have directories. It might be incredibly helpful to try to find someone working at a private practice rather than at a big chain. It's a huge difference in quality of care.

My biggest, most lingering fear is flying and travel in general. I've had both BPPV and PPPD on and off for three years and before that had extreme dizziness in 2008. Mostly I am better, except when the BPPV gets triggered then I'm back to misery for a week or two, but I have so many amazing 90%+ days now! But - the idea of being on a plane and what it could do to my ears or even getting a BPPV episode mid-flight terrifies me to the point that I'm scared I'll never travel again.

I’m curious, do you see many people who associate dizziness with hunger? My brain definitely has a connection between the two and it feeds the anxious cycle. Hi there, wonderful to hear, thank you so much! Yes, I wouldn't say this is very common but yes! Interestingly, sometimes it's the opposite- dizziness gets worse after eating. I’ve had anxiety all my life and was using CBD and Delta 8 to chill me out. Then one day my edibles backfired on me and bam, whole body started shaking into panic mode. Been dizzy for over a month now and my symptoms match PPPD. I notice whenever I’m more in “fight” mode that the dizziness is less. Seems like when I meditate I feel a wave of dizziness, like waves of air flowing down. I’m starting to wonder if my mind is just getting stuck from a heightened mode of anxiety back and forth repeatedly (like the head sensation you get when something stressful happens). Maybe if I smoke more weed it will go away! Nah just kidding this shit sucks lol. I wonder if it’s all part of the derealization deal though.

Hey Yonit, I came across your channel and I have been watching your videos religiously. I started doing emotional tracking and trying to better understand my symptoms. But since then, my dizziness has been much worse and recently I started getting vestibular migraines for the last 4 days straight. Never had these type of issues in the 4 years of having pppd. Is this a good or bad sign? Is this a part of the recovery?
@TheSteadyCoach
@TheSteadyCoach 2 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry that has happened to you! I take this to be a good sign and part of recovery, but it sounds miserable. Sometimes when people start to open the box of emotions, it lets out ALL sorts of unpleasant stuff and your nervous system fights back- "Let's keep you preoccupied with symptoms so you stop doing this digging." The other thing that can happen is when people start thinking about their emotions or watching lots of videos about dizziness, they end up focusing on their symptoms and then the brain freaks out and turns the volume up on the symptoms instead of down. It's hard to give individual advice but I might place limits on how much "work" you do emotionally each day, at least to start off. Something like, "Ok, I'm going to devote X amount of time at xx:xx and that's it," and spend the rest of your time living your life as fully as possible.

I think I've asked this before but I'm stuck in analysis paralysis... nothing fits my situation better than PPPD, the only thing holding me back from finally accepting it, is that I had a single episode of spinning vertigo a few months AFTER onset of pppd ( pppd onset most likely from extended period of very high stress and anxiety). I know it isn't part of the medical definition of pppd, but can it cause an episode of full vertigo with nystagmus? I feel like this is the final piece of the puzzle for me. I feel that analysis paralysis is a big part of my issue and probably is for others as well.

I think I have pppd but the only thing that makes me uncertain is after I have a bowel movement in the morning I feel immediately weak and shaky and my consciousness starts to weaken. I’ve done all kind of blood work and tests and they all say I’m healthy. The weakness fatigue strange feelings of moving when I’m not is present. Idk what to think.

Hi Trey, I’ve seen this plenty of times with PPPD- the straining increases sympathetic activation (fight flight) and increases symptoms. However once in a while this is a symptom of a physical issue. If you also have sensitivity to loud sounds and/or symptoms increase with coughing or sneezing, it’s a good idea to see an ENT.

Dr. Arthur, first of all, I want to say thank you. You touched my life. I’m 25 years old and I have struggled with PPPD since 2019. Just started to exercise 3 weeks ago. Some days I feel like recurrence. Does it always be like that till I got cured? When it becomes like recurrence, I feel like disappointed but I really believe in I will be ok soon and my life will be like old good days. Is it just normal feeling like recurrence during the recovery?

Know how you feel, I was the same, do the exercises work. But it's just not the exercises, its more too that, learn too live whit it, dont be afraid, etc etc. I am at getting better but certainly some days are less good. But I'm not a doctor, but hope you get your answer, stay strong.

I feel like I’m 90% better. I can’t help but be stuck on if I’ll ever be 100% better. It seems like I’m my worst when I’m at home relaxing. I remember you saying that was normal in a video. I can’t remember which one? Any ideas on how I can get past this? The rest of my life has gone back to normal but I want to be able to peacefully relax at home! Love your videos and as a Canadian support I hope to be a success story soon. :)

Hey - I’m currently on a mental health ward! I’ve been here weeks and after 2 years of the persistent orientation and dizzy and balance I’ve finally seen an audiologist today that confirmed this to me. The fear of being dizzy ( which is triggered from walking, moving my head, laying down. It’s constant for me and my fear towards it had been whittled to suicide. I have no idea where to go from here. Doctor on my ward doesn’t reconise and just thinks I’m just a bit dizzy. Do you have a guided course online? Chats and consultations?
