Mt. Antero! Go check it out. If you want to cut down on your miles you'll need a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle and you can go as far as you want - either almost to the summit or down below Baldwin Gulch. I recommend staying at Baldwin Gulch because there's plenty of water and it makes for a nice 10 mile day to the summit and back. But seriously, don't underestimate this road; it's a rough one.
Antero has a bunch of mineral deposits in it. The day I went up there was a miner looking for aqua, he even showed me a piece he had found from the day before.

I wish I could have seen that area in the late 70's. It's remote now, but I can't imagine how much more remote it must have been back then. Glad I could help take you down memory lane 😊

How was the road to Baldwin Gulch compared to Mt Princeton road to radio towers?

I haven't done Princeton yet but the road up to Baldwin Gulch wasn't the worse I had ever done. A stock high clearance vehicle will get up there just fine and passing other vehicles wasn't that hard either; no wildly steep drop offs or anything from what I remember.
