Just bought a Bear and Son butterfly the other day. American made knives are ridiculously hard to come by, and it was most definitely a selling point for me. Glad to own one!

My mother in law bought me one of your hunting knives as a Christmas present about 16 or so, years ago. Still my go to hunting knife. I keep the edge razor sharp, just generally try to keep it clean and ready to go when I hit the woods. I used it today to cut some thorn brush out of my way, and still impressed by how I can cut stuff with ease (one handed) just cuts through anything. The fact that after all this time, I’ve never even looked into the company that made it. Today became that day. The fact that it is still impressing me every time I use it. It sharpens to shave hair with out too much effort, and as many times as I’ve touched up the edge, there is no wear. I’ve used this for everything from hunting/camping to cleaning hair out of vacuum for my wife. It’s just solid. Pretty sure I’ll be hunting with this one for rest of my life. Great job guys. Really. I’m not the kind of person who takes time out of my day for this kind of stuff often, but this is worth it. I wish I could say that for other stuff I’ve bought over the years.

Just bought my first Bear & Son knife. I bought the Red Bone Large Trapper with the Carbon Steel blades. I was at a knife shop that had hundreds of knives in stock. I looked and felt numerous different brands. The Bear & Son Red Bone was my favorite. The fit and finish is perfect, no gaps or blade wobble. I am extremely happy with it, and it’s made in Alabama!!!! Thank You and God Bless.

I'm really proud to own 3 knives made by Bear and Son. All of them are really good, and make me quite proud and give me hope. The 3 I have are an Old Timer Generational series Sharpfinger, an Old Timer Generational series Middleman, and a Remington Barlow. None of them have the Bear and Son brand name on them because the Schrade and Remington companies contracted Bear and Son to make the knives for them. Very smart move by those companies. They can see the quality and care coming from Bear and Son

You've been blessed to have a family that cared about you. To have the memories of your dad and grand-dad spending time with you, teaching you, sharing the information needed to be a good person with you. I've just now learned about Bear and Son, and will be trading with y'all going forward. Doing some research online, I like what I see about your products; this back story just cemented the deal. May God bless you and yours and all that you do.

So glad I found this video. I always thought that Bear and Sons was an import knife. Glad to be corrected. Like you, my Texas - born dad bought me several knives and taught me to whittle. That was 60 years ago and I still carry a slip joint knife. My USA made Kabar was a lifesaver in Vietnam, and despite all the fuss about. powder metals and the latest / greatest locking system, I still prefer a carbon steel blade. Thanks , Ya'll

After watching this video and couple youtube video of the Red Bone scales on the B&S Barlow and with free shipping from SMKW right now and the great price for these American made knives well heck why not have another too. So I going to go order another right now. With the year this one has been I think I owe it to myself and if that help keep others working that is great.

@mikesummers81412 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love that Bear and Son makes their knives here in USA. But guys come on, let’s be realistic- they aren’t the best knives honestly. I own 6 Bear and Sons and it breaks my heart that some of the Chinese companies like WE and Kizer blow them outta the water when it comes to fit and finish aesthetics, steel selections, ergonomics, and overall quality. Like I said, I hate that it’s this way, absolutely hate it, cuz I’m proud to be an American and to buy USA made. But realistically, just cause it says “built in the USA” doesn’t always mean it’s a great or even good product compared to other non-USA made products on the market. Bear and Son needs to step up their game BIG TIME and truly show customers what USA made is all about. Truth hurts sometimes.

Just bought 2 Bear and Son butterfly knives. Played with em for the weekend and the handles are now warped inward and already touch each other. I'm sure there are some quality knives in the line up, but the 2 I got for 40 bucks each, are very bad. My 20 dollar Chinese one that I have had longer, is fine. Just sayin. Maybe lead and zinc are not great materials to use if you're gonna be talking about American made quality.

Maybe you might have better luck than I did, but the 2 I bought weren't good. It seems like they have really bad quality control issues from what i hear. Mine had weak pulls, the blade the blade wasn't centered and was rubbing all the way to one side, big gaps, the action was gritty even after I cleaned and oiled the heck out of the knife. It's honestly a shame because I'd like to support a Made in USA product, but like Case, who has similar problems, they need to get their quality control in order

@einundsiebenziger5488 Жыл бұрын
Chinese do make the quality you are willing to pay for. Just happens that for most of history, the world asked China to make cheap, shitty products. I own a few Chinese made knives that are far better quality in terms of material and craftsmanship than some of the big name American brands. From an environmetal standpoint (shorter transport, fewer emissions etc.) it makes sense though to buy as local as possible.
