1966 was the best year for garage rock! Was also the best year for me. Moved to NYC, all-girls’ Catholic boarding school, (sounds horrible, but wasn’t!) Family was military, first time I stayed in same school more than a year, stayed until graduation, 3 1/2 years! Was last year before we lost oldest brother Jimmy in Vietnam, sister Monica, age 12 to leukemia. Dad came out of Navy, was never the same. 1966 kept me going until next good time, 1973-1975. Great music, good times. Music is a time machine. When life sucks, God and music keeps me going. 🎼 🎶 🎵 ❤

@@kenkovar2647 Slot of you Gina , and a few oldins , are reawakening to this bad ass so- called "unknown Garage / Punk , early psych bands/ tunes . My friends early wild - child sister had a few of these tunes back when I was 7-8 yrs old ; which I vaguely recall ; 64-66 time frame , maybe 1967. You said a mouthful. Before the Net, I guess I thought Pebbles represented most of what was out there circa 1966-ish, besides The Stones, The Animals, Blues Magoos, etc. Now I know that even Burfurd, Nebraska had a dozen garage bands that were just as good as Them or The Seeds, etc. What a scene! It's surreal. I even find myself wondering how it all could have been possible. There must have been close to a million bands throughout especially N America, plus the Brit Invasion-influenced bands throughout Australia, South Africa... I'm aware that Buenos Aires Argentina had a kickass garage rock scene. If you haven't checked out Los Bestias yet, holy crap. They were BETTER than The Animals... and I would have sex with any of The Animals, and I'm not even gay, if that tells you anything. :P

Amazing how the big music chiefs missed these groups . Either bad management , or financing not available . To me this music is early punk / psych . Would like to know time range of these slamming hits. Folks , this is the epitome of the 60s scene , rebellion, anti- Vietnam War scene !

My new neighbors heard me banging on my drumkit, and one guy sez he plays drums why dont we jam. Here's where it always gets weird, trying to explain "what kind of music" Im into, and theyre always all "thats cool, i "like all kinds of music", which means "I only listen to whatever comes on the radio"... So to give them an idea of what Im into, Ill burn a CD of garage rock compilations from this series, Pebbles etc to give to them. Next time I see them, they wont talk to me anymore, and its like they think Im like a criminally insane pedophile, or like a murderer or something. Lol

I bought a tape in Floresville, Texas, and it has the best recording of this song I aware so close to this one but way way way better and it melted in my truck during the summer, now I can’t prove it in anyway. It was so rare from Holland I think. The instrumentation is so similar and so close man…. When I find that version I will ave a heart attack I sware!

I think that punk / garage kind of kick started the psych scene . The garage/ punk genre / psych was sort of the proto psych , and one of the reasons it went underground , and played @ opening night slots , mostly on radio pm stations. These punk , garage groups were a little ahead of their time ,or coincided with the mainstream , well knowns ; such as The Beatles , Rolling stones , Animals , Kinks , McCoys , Kingsmen , Castaways , just to pick of few . These unknown , garage groups probably didn't have , nor the good , honest management , and mishandled their finances , and lackadaisical management to advocate these bands promotionally .
