I work for a dealer in NC. We got a whole pallet of twine in that the first 50 feet or so was smashed and it wouldn’t feed right. We wound up sending it all back. If you stripped off the first several yards it would work.

Good video. I see that you got most all of the rain that we missed in my part of Pittsylvania county. It has been very dry here all year. We had a terrible spring hay crop and Fall cutting. Very little hay made in my area this year.

Hello Dennis I use 210 knot strength. I know to tight tension not good, to loose not good. Maybe cut 3 ft off take thouse kinks out see if that helps some thoughts for next year. All is done now great video Dennis have a good day.

I tried pulling out several feet probably 15 or 20 didn’t help. I’m pretty sure it the twine knife’s.

If you were to replace your baler, would you go with another New Holland or Massey Ferguson? My local Case IH dealer has a Case IH SB 531, which I'm tempted to purchase.

I run a massey ferguson baler number 9. I have same issue with the kinks in reg twine. Once past those kinks it bales great. Nothing I did helped .

Sharp twine knives helped me. I also put new springs on the twine keepers. Noticed it seemed to do alot better. Also learned how important moisture effects a bale in how it packs and pulled the knots off the bill hooks. Last cut I did had to finish baling the next day. It went from baling great to crap. Had to put bale tension so far down to get it to bale. Thanks for great videos.

The bale tension or moisture shouldn’t be making that kind of a difference. I bet your twine disc brake isn’t tight enough. I have to run mine basically as tight as it will go.

Even on the camera that field looks really steep Dennis . Its a Good feeling to get finished hay time and it's all in and dry .Did you mow any more grass with the 5711 notice your JD on the baler ? Mike

I actually mowed everything you see here with the Massey because a stick broke the hydraulic suction line on the Deere when I mowed the first 15 acres so I had to switch them out while I got parts.

How do you like that Baler? Do you wish you would of have went to the 5070? Is it worth the double rake even though you have a smaller pickup on the baler? I'm just asking since I just bought the same baler as you have and I'm looking for a double rake?

Love the baler and love the double rake. I did just upgrade my baler to the 1840 Massey inline but I kept the NH.

I think my twine knives are dull. It will cut the straight sting but to dull to cut the kinked stuff

wow my neighbour had the same problem with his worn-out knotter all it is to replace it his was more to it was hack and jerry-rigged before he got it too

I spray with 24d also but how do you get rid of crabgrass and foxtail in 2nd cut?

You can’t, but crabgrass and foxtail both make good hay. It’s no big deal especially if it’s a low percentage of the hay
