One of the best sitcoms ever. It still makes me happy to watch it. RIP Pearl, Compo, Cleggy, Foggy, Truly, Nora, Ivy, and everyone else who made it so wonderful.

Fantastic trio the glass of wine that made us all feel good about the world the show of fun and joy and old men who were just a little chilled out with life and never took things seriously I still watch the reruns and watch for the moments that are very special and the end of the the show doesn't mean it's over but the show are now good memories and laughter forever the 3 good friends will keep us in laughter forever

There probably will never be another comedy, as long-running, as well written, as well as having the perfect cast of actors.

No bad language, attempted murders, robberies, burglaries, shootings, kidnappings - JUST FUN and great writing. A great cast. Still as funny now as when it first started.

There was that one episode where Foggy accidentally put his toe in a cow’s anus, but apart from that and the episode where Nora Batty vomited in a cowboy boot, it remained perfect family viewing from beginning to end.

I cried my eyes out so much when I saw the 2 Episodes that they did after Bill Owen died including the Episode that played this song at the beginning instead of just the tune, I think it was Compo's funeral episode, was so sad. I don't usually cry when someone I don't personally know passes away but I just couldn't help but cry,

Loved this comedy series ..... Old men getting into so much trouble ! All the cast were spot on with their characters however my favourite was Foggy .... He was superb when telling his war stories !

The show was televised for 37 years but has never ended because thankfully Sky has never stopped showing the repeats when they finished with the BBC and now in 2021 is watched and loved by millions of people all around the world and so you could say that it’s been going for 48 years .

Compo, Cleggy, and Foggy were the best trio. The show just wasn’t the same after Compo passed away.

It was a brilliant show. Three friends who basically never grew up. Foggy and later truly thinking up crazy schemes that usually involved compo getting wet or stuck in something. Sunday's night's just aren't the same.
Probably my favourite best television programme and favourite writer. What about Cleggy for delivery. I have managed to catch up on them since retiring in 2007. Still chuckling.

That was not fair, John Comer was the 4th of the mischievous lads and just as important as them and completely blanked out but a quick clip of a photo.

Sleep well love. Loved LOTSW up till foggy left for the last time. It was changing and got to ridiculous for me. Its funny how in the earlier series, Clegg was not a nervous wreck scared of women they all said low key swear words and smoked. Then it changed. How a show with basically the same material being used again and again could stand the test of time . Is amazing. Soft gentle comedy and the earlier Christmas episodes were great. some things they overlooked. The two of the trio always ribbed compo for not going away to fight and never leaving aldershot during the war and in the episode where he went to Dunkirk with truly and Clegg all of a sudden he fought there. When Seymour arrived Clegg and Compo did not know him, then they were school friends a few episodes in. Same with Wesley Pegden and his wife. They barely new foggy when they heard he was coming to meet them when Blamire left but then over the years they had a close school relationship. Great comedy and so peaceful.

I liked Blamire rather than Foggy and for two reasons: Firstly, he reminded me physically and facially of my father. Secondly, he was far more believable as a former soldier. In my own army service I met several 'Blamires' but only ever one utter fantasist like 'Foggy'. Unfortunately my wife's sister married him.

Truthfully, after Bill passed l lost interest. He made the show what it was in many ways and was a key and pivotal character. The whole cast was wonderful of course.

great show-sadly most of cast now desceased---went down hill storyline wise after compos passing and although i watch nightly on freeview it was right to bring the curtain down in 2010 as the storylines had become very poor and it was costing too much to make

Did Foggy die or just retire?
@thetalisman77225 жыл бұрын
Retired due to ill health. It was meant to be only temporary but he later decided not to come back.
