I enjoyed it so much! I have joined your channel quite recently and I'm so glad to say that every your video makes my soul sing and I feel like I'm meditating when I watch. Such a soothing storytelling, so real and simple. Maybe it's because I share a lot of your interests with you and I can relate to many things you're saying, or it's because I adore your filming and photography. Thank you for your courage and honesty and for sticking to a style!

I’m on leave this week - so on a staycation at home - we are lucky enough to live in the South Downs National Park so we walked up on the Downs today. It was lovely and blustery and the sun came out for a bit. Fresh air and sunshine - you can’t beat it. I also love fermented food. I make my own kefir and have a tablespoon of sauerkraut with most meals. I really love Eve Kalinik’s book “Be Good To Your Gut”. I’m also taking an online nutrition course with Amanda Hamilton at the moment. Thank you for the video. It was lovely. Especially the music

I can’t really put into words just how much running has helped me through lockdown. It makes me feel alive. The feeling of the fresh air in my lungs, the reduction in anxiety and sense of freedom. Looking forward to when we can go further afield. Good luck with the house move and thank you again for your lovely videos. They help so much x

Luckily we’re allowed to surf and hike so that’s been a saving grace on the weekends :) I hope that you manage to get out into the hills again soon, but really enjoying your vlogs either way! I started watching you about a year ago because my dad and I were going to be trekking a marathon in the lakes and as part of our training we decided to tackle kinder scout during our bi-yearly holidays to the Peak District. we didn't end up doing the marathon because of covid but we did manage to do kinder in September 2020 and it was a highlight of my year. this video has made me wish I could be back in the peaks trekking over the hills and enjoying the beautiful views. the snow looks so mesmerising.

You read & you feed our feathered friends ! The end is hopefully in sight & the hills will beckon us & then you'll be doing a vlog wishing you had more time to stay in & cook lol xx. Hey Athena! I’ve found the same thing with not moving enough, and I use the Nike training club app. It’s free (well in exchange for your details) and compliments their run club app. There are loads of options in terms of fitness levels, equipment, and time to complete. I found it helpful because I didn’t have to ALSO invent what I was going to do, just had to decide to do it. Gets the heart rate up too, if that’s what you want! Thank goodness for our dogs to keep us accountable for walks!

A lovely vlog Athena. How do you go about making your sauerkraut as I’ve never made it with a sealed lid?
@RambleFamily3 жыл бұрын
It’s super easy! Just one cabbage chopped with 1.5tbsp salt. You massage the cabbage with the salt so the juices come out then press it into a jar. Leave in a warm place for a week then you can transfer it to the fridge and it’s ready to eat 😊
@janeinmid-wales3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying so quickly. I’d made some just before watching this but was intrigued as you had closed the lid on the Kilmer jar. I either put a couple of cabbage leaves on top and weigh them down with a smaller jar full of water or put a plastic food bag inside the jar and fill it with water to create a seal. I usually add water to just cover the cabbage but I get water escaping out of the jar whilst fermenting. I haven’t added water to this batch so will see how it turns out. I’m currently listening to an audiobook Health Revolution by Maria Borelius and sauerkraut was mentioned yesterday with regard to gut health. It’s a very interesting read/listen. I’ve just finished If Women Rose Rooted and have found it thought provoking. 😀. Good luck with house hunting, I’m looking forward to seeing where you go next

You literally live the life I hope to lead once lockdown has ended. Have you ever thought about Lands end to John O'groats? I like the way you did the bacon. I only have bacon the traditional way, with eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and a sausage but I don't need that every day. I kind of thought you would have your own chickens. I have also found this lockdown mentally and physically wearing. Because you can't travel so all I have is the modest limestone hills of the Mendips which are on my doorstep. I think most people on here however will not have a hill nearly a thousand feet above sea level less than an hour's walk from home. Still, until 29 March we have what I call the 'Rule of Boris'. If Boris can be seen exercising seven miles from home then so can the rest of us. After that we will have what the government calls 'stay at home as much as possible'. I expect because nobody has any idea what this means there will be more stupid incidents where people get stopped and fined for being just a little bit further from their home than the police think they need to be. I don't know how you organise your business which I know is much more than just a KZbin channel. I am a member of a not-for-profit carnival club which is constituted as a limited company, because it owns land, mechanical plant and a large agricultural shed. We are having a new electric roller shutter door in a couple of weeks instead of the ramshackle tumbledown affair it has now. We will be doing the labouring ourselves because we don't have any money. Because the club is a limited company it is a place of work therefore it will be OK for a small group of us to go and do the work. So in some circumstances there are things that you can do. I used to work for myself as a one person limited company and I expect if you are as well you would be able to do a modest bit of travelling in order to make videos for your channel.

Hey everyone, I was wondering whether anyone has had experience dealing with injury (where you can’t walk) and how that stops you from getting outside and doing the things you want to, like running or long walks. I’ve got a gluteal tendon injury and I’m finding it’s getting me down a lot as I can’t do my usual walks that helped during lockdown so much! Anyone have any experience with this and what might help?

Loved the vlog Athena? Its a shame that you have to move ;0(. Are you Iike me and get very attached to inanimate objects, like houses, trees, gardens etc? I remember my last house, I had to go around hugging all the trees when we left because in my mind they are all living spiritual things. We have two old Toyota cars, and I love them, look after them, maintain them and could never imagine swapping them for new ones. They are just part of our little family. It’s all very sad behaviour I know but I put it down to just being spiritual!

Athena -"Wotcha doin?'" Oslo - "Chasing wabbits." Love the snowy scenes. Lockdown IS bad for health. They should just stop that nonsense already, it's old. I'm so over it all. "Toss aside the slave muzzle, breathe fresh air, show us your smile" - that's what I say to people whilst hiking maskless. Thankfully most people I meet on the mountain have seen how utterly pointless it is trying to get some fresh air through a mouldy old mask as few of them still wear the things whilst up in the hills

You love your dog but do you have the same respect for pigs? Eggs and milk too. So no respect to chickens and cows either. Please look into the total exploitation of all of these animals and think about the animals on your next walk.
