The question, “You have a chance to save the world but the cost is that you lose the person you love the most in the world after already suffering that pain before”. The answer, the REAL answer, is that both Joel and Marlene made the wrong decision, because that decision should’ve been Ellie’s to make. In The Last Of Us (GAME) podcast Neil Druckman talks about how Joel and Marlene had no right to take that choice away from Ellie. She would’ve said yes, and then Joel would have no choice but to respect her wish. She wanted the deaths of all the people she had lost, Riley, Tess, Henry and Sam, to mean something. Even if it cost her her life. And even though a small part of her knows in her heart that Joel was lying to her she feels that she can’t let herself believe that the only person she loves in the world took away her chance to save the world. Also I love that Ashley Johnson got to play Ellie’s mom Anna. It was a beautiful full circle moment that the woman who plays Ellie in the games played her mother in the show. Plus it shows how Ellie is just like her mother. Also Laura Bailey who played Abby in TLOU Part 2 played one of the nurses in the OR. And it sucks that even though we have to wait a couple more years for season 2, it will be worth the wait! Until then, Endure And Survive!

That was one of THE biggest complaints about The Walking Dead towards the end. People felt like the zombies really posed no threat and were usually easy to defeat. I firmly believe in less-is-more and when you finally do see a Clicker you appreciate it's presence more and it feels like more of a threat instead of an overused plot device.

"Was he right or wrong" is irrelevant. It's a great example of the kind of unease and continued unwanted patterns that persist when we ask the wrong questions. No one was only right or only wrong. There's really no such thing as what definitely should or shouldn't happen. There are infinite unknowns. We genuinely don't know if that doctor could have made a cure, let alone if it could be kept simultaneously safe and truly accessible enough to spread it around. No one knows if Ellie would truly have agreed to die if she knew how much Joel needed her or how wrecked the world was before the apocalypse. Joel isn't interested in saving their world because everyone's definition of "the world" is a little different. We assume his decision has damned the world, when we don't know the long-haul effects because we don't know the variables, who can say what would or wouldn't happen? All we know is that Ellie is upset for a while, and as she gets older and understands that mindset better, she forgives. Arguably too late, but it's never too late to forgive. And because she's willing and able to recognize the consequences, she later learns from Joel's decision and avoids making a similar decision, herself.

While I do think that there should have been more Infected, the show Joel said that the Infected weren't a real problem in the midwest. The lack of people and big cities means that its easier to manage in remote areas. The coasts with major cities would still be a huge problem.

32:20 Look this show is a solid 9.5/10 for me, I loved it. But after the Finale I asked one my friends who has never played the game, what does she think about the show overall. And she answered the exact same thing, she said: "I loved it, but I wished it had more infected (as she stated Zombie) stuff in it. I wanted to see more of them." As someone who played the game I didn't bothered by this, cause we already ran into S many of em in the game, so I was expecting it to be less chaotic than the game. But tbf I think it's true. They could've included more infected in the show.

36:20 -- Well Jaby, let's put it this way: people who don't care about zombies, who aren't fans of this genre, are hooked on this show. And it's not because, or just because, of the zombies. That should tell you all you need to know about the quality of this show.

Christ almighty Ryan, there's no infected in that part of the game either. You only deal with hunters during the Jackson level. We don't get infected during Tess' death scene. It's Fedra soldiers we get. So we got more infected in episode 2 than the game. Which makes up for the much less infected we get in Bill's episode as the infected in that part of the game was only for game mechanics and by delaying the bloaters introduction to episode 5, it makes it far more impactful. There's infected in only 1 part of the Pittsburgh section and that's when they have you go through the sewers, which is where the infected are in the show as well. Driven underground. Only Joel and Ellie don't go through the sewers in the show. The only infected that was significantly cut from the show was David's introduction. And it's not something that was entirely needed, hence why it was cut. First because it's clearly expensive to film such a sequence all for the purpose to gain trust between characters when that trust can easily be achieved in much more cost efficient ways. Second, the reason there's infected in that part of the game is because video games have an interactive element that is a requirement of the medium. So to create an interactive element for the purposes of that scene, you are given infected to fight alongside David's character to serve the purpose of starting to trust him. And it's just not needed for a TV show that doesn't require an interactive element. And this idea that seeing less infected in the latter half of the season makes it seem like humanity has the cordyceps under control is an insane overreaction. That is one of the most ludicrous things Ryan has ever said. If humanity had the codyceps under control, none of the communities we've seen throughout the entire show would exist, Fedra would no longer exist. Humanity would be putting itself back together if the thing that ripped it apart was under control.

Jaby you are so precious 12:04 😢💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾❤ I didn't play the game but I watched the gameplay many times over the years and as a non-gamer maybe that's why I couldn't have cared less about there being more or less Clickers. In the words of Bill: "I was satisfied" with the amount shown but I was more in tune with the emotional side of the storytelling like Achara said. I got the impression that the show was conveying that humans are more dangerous than even the Cordyceps, which I think Joel even says, so I feel like them showing less Clickers and more of the danger that humans pose also feeds into the need for Ellie to get to SLC and be the cure the world needs. These corrupt people (certain FEDRA QZs, David, raiders, Kathleen, etc) thrive in this broken world and they're just as much of a reason for her to get this done. Restoring law and order.

My answer to the baby Hitler question is, if I could go back in time, I'd remove him from the environment that created him as an adult, try to change the influences he was exposed to, and know there would be a different result with him... While also knowing the economic, cultural and national circumstances that led to the rise of fascist Nazism might lead to a different flavor of the same outcome, Hitler or not.

People are never satisfied. One of the biggest gripes from the walking dead was people you liked were killed off without developing them and over abundance of zombies but that's what happens it the real world people die when you don't think they should and now you have storytelling with characters and they dialed the clockers down a bit and we're still not satisfied. Makes me think that the reason adaptations sometimes fail isn't the fault the story but our need to have everything 100% perfect. If it strays to far to the left or right now it's sucks and the worst adaptations ever.we decided that a show sucks in one episode without giving it a chance to grow. All lot of show from the past were given time to develop and some are considered the greatest shows on tv.wriyers were given the chance to change arcs and storytelling but after one or two episodes now it's cancelled. I'm glad this show is above the criteria of what was expected

And there lies the problem: these fools are holding it against the show for a perceived lack of Infected, which they claim is part of the charm of the game. There's your hint right there: the game. For gameplay purposes, there really would be quite a lot of Infected. For a series, it is unnecessary to have that many Infected, especially if Joel is supposed to be this wise survivalist. I mean, "The Walking Dead" was criticized for having the walkers feel not threatening for a long time because they are overexposed to the audience. You can't have double-standards around here.

31:50 i understand you bruh.... like the show didn't give much of a crisis feeling to judge whether joel's action were justified. rather people who have played game they know the gravity of the situation. because people spend more than 10 hours to play this game 😂they have dealt with clickers... bloaters.. while side by side following the main purpose of the game.... so for gamers it is little tiny bit of disappointment. without showing the threat how am i (viewer with no gameplay) suppose to know the actual value of ellie's life in perspective to Marlene and for Joel.... i knew this was a shortcoming we would get from this show but i still love it....

dots related to marleen's selfishness is totally BS. although we support joel but marleen was right in the moment she was thinking in wider context while joel in selfish narrow context. ellie would have accepted to sacrifice her for betterment of humanity. it's interesting we trying to justify any action just because we support that person. human nature and herd mentality in evolutionary inherent to us. trying to connect marleen ending life of ellie's mom with sacrificing ellie is false equivalence since that was ellie's mom asked marleen didn't just shot her in self interest. marleen was better person. period (go outrage)

That's such a one dimensional way of seeing things. Humanity is not worth saving? Who are you to decide that? Or say it even? There are innocent people suffering because of that naivety from world leaders. Every human is worth saving. That's what defines a species, saving an unprivileged life. Joel was wrong. He wasn't right at all. And even if he were, saying humanity isn't worth saving is so naive.

For me, someone who has never played the game, this show desperately needed more time between Ellie and Joel. More little moments, more moments of him teaching her, having her grow on him. Episode 3, though beautifully acted and written, took time away from our main characters. Episode 7 was the weakest episode and took even MORE time away from Joel and Ellie. We either needed more episodes, or we needed to make sure the focus stayed on Joel and Ellie in all episodes instead of side characters/flashbacks. I do think that we needed more Clickers because it doesn't feel like there was enough of an obvious threat to really justify attempting a cure. On the other hand, they would need to be very careful with that because you don't want to go the way of The Walking Dead. In the end, I don't think Joel or Marlene was right. However... I feel like I probably would have made SOME similar choices as Joel if I were in his boots. Marlene wasn't giving Ellie a choice either and it's very difficult to see a bigger picture when your entire world is the one person who could possibly save others. Lastly, I think it's also important to point out that making a cure from Ellie is realistically all theoretical. They have no actual proof that they can make it. They have no guarantee that they can widely distribute said cure even if they can make it. Ellie could have died on that operating table for absolutely nothing and Joel would have lost her and Marlene would have failed Anna. Not to mention, at the very beginning of episode 2, the answer from someone who studied fungal infections most of her life says the answer is to start bombing, that there is no cure. Now, it's possible this doctor could have had access to tools and research and such over the past 20 years, especially if he was with FEDRA, but considering Ellie is the very first person they've found to be immune, there can't be much, if any research. A cure being made from Ellie is probably unlikely.

From what I'm seeing, there is no pleasing gamers. They want gameplay to be adapted and that's just not happening. I love both the games but Jaby and co need to understand this is a completely different medium. They sprinkled the infected throughout brilliantly and that's how it should be done. The storytelling and characters are always the main thing, and having infected almost every episode would ruin that. We got the point of the infected and it's basically background characters and that's fine. We got more and more stuff in the first half and that was enough to set them up.
