This is the final part of the documentary trilogy “Offensive”. The first-person combat footage shows the offensive actions of units of the Third Separate Assault Brigade during the summer-autumn phase of the advance of Ukrainian troops in the Bakhmut direction. Andriivka was the final point of the brigade’s offensive in Donetsk region.
After clearing the banks of the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal from enemy forces and entrenching in captured positions, the fighters of the brigade are starting a new stage and storming the approaches to the occupied village of Andriivka. Stormers advance from one trench to another. Grazing small arms fire and grenades going in one after another, including thermobaric ones. The occupiers are offered to surrender, but there is no time for long persuasions here, and the russians’ choice is limited - either prisoner or liquidated. “I’ll smoke you out now!”, - one of the fighters comments and continues “pouring” fire.
Thus, through the forest strips, filled with the burrows of the occupiers and fierce battles, the stormers are approaching the settlement and begin the liberation operation.

For anyone who is a modern war history buff and is older (I am late 30's), you know how ridiculously hard it is to ever find any TRUE combat footage, footage of front line combat. Almost none of it existed... until like the last 5-10 years. It's crazy how we went from true front line footage being pretty hard to find, to wars being broadcast on the internet in first person, in like 5-10 years, after like 100 years of the former.

yh it's crazy although they blurred it out mostly u still see people get killed like around 35:00 mins in watched that 1 guy get shot in the back of the head (Instantly reminded me when i saw a video of Russians saying they gave us airsoft helmets and vests) and then the other guy in the back that they forgot to blur out. It does open your eyes to see what combat is really like and how brutal it really is.

I think the buddy didn't fake surrender. I think there were two dugouts very close together. One guy from one dugout was crawling out (to surrender? and got killed? by the Russian grenade?) and one guy from the other dugout (probably not knowing how close the AFU were) popped out at the same time, tossed grenade and was shot immediately. After that (lots of video editing so we don't know if it was seconds or minutes later), a second guy from the second dugout (who now realized he was surrounded) surrendered and moved off camera. I could be wrong though.

Its just so hard to comprehend how bitter someone must be that if they are stuck in a dugout, and have already fought hard and bravely. That they will still do something what is practically suicide. I, probably along with most people here, would surrender immediately when its clear that whatever move you make its your last. But that just shows how different their situation is and how we cant really understand.

Scared of being murdered - or worse - if they surrender. Some will be propaganda imprinted into them from the higher echelons, to get them not to surrender. But a BBC film released a couple of weeks ago (embedded crew in a Ukrainian infantry battalion) called something like "The Enemy in the Forest" shows a few injured/abandoned Russian troops being murdered on camera. Another patrol comes back with 2 Russians who've surrendered and an officer says, straight to camera that if he'd been on the patrol they wouldn't be bringing back any prisoners. Plenty of talk from Ukrainian soldiers about how they don't see the Russians as real people (I'm not joking btw). The unit medic - when asked if she'd treat Russian wounded prisoners eventually says that she guesses she would.
