It’s crazy how rare perfect games are, yet there were 2 within 3 weeks of eachother in 2010 and three in the 2012 season. They seemed so common for a short period, and then, they vanished. None in the last decade since Felix did it. And as a Mariners fan who grew up with the King as his favorite player, I can say I am proud for him to have held the distinction as the last Perfect pitcher for this long. This just goes to show how many things have to go right for someone to throw a perfect game. These guys aren't all HOF pitchers. Couple of 'em I've never even heard of except for this. Think of how many great, great pitchers never threw a perfect game. Nolan Ryan. 7 no-hitters, none perfect. Obviously it's a major achievement for a pitcher, but it really has to be the whole team firing on all cylinders. No errors, no fielder's choice, nothing. It's a defensive win for the whole team, really. Not to mention luck. I mean, no bloop singles, no one goes yard, no little roller that the third baseman can't reach in time.... It's pretty remarkable, and it isn't just the greatest pitchers in the game that get one. I kinda like that.

3:49 My best friend remembers David Wells' one like this: {in documentary voice} "On May 17th, 1998, David Wells pitched the fattest, sweatiest, most hungover perfect game in the history of baseball."

The majority of these were done by the visiting team..Always better when your home crowd can take this amazing history making moments..Still pretty cool..The fans still showed love!!

Sad he should of had the 24 perfecto in mlb history but you can also say that about Pedro Martinez went perfect through 10 and 2/3 s his team just couldn’t give him any runs. But agreed Jim Joyce did take that pitchers name out the history books to bad there wasn’t replay for bad calls back then.

I was there on July 18. Don Larsen and Yogi through out the fist pitch. Bald Vinny yelled for Yogi to jump on Don Larsen. In the first inning Paul ONeil makes a sliding catch and we had the rain delay. Finally i witnessed it all of us in the bleachers hugged and celebrated!!! It was fantastic!!

It's crazy what a good broadcast will do. When they call it well I get SO emotional. Announcers really are amazing at times. Man, imagine pitching a perfect game in the World Series. That's gotta be the best feeling in the world.

Ooh looking back on it that check swing call on Ryan for Humber’s game is really rough. Definitely one of those moments where the umpire isn’t going to call it any other way, even though it’s objectively the incorrect call.

The fact that made David Cone's perfect game extra special: he pitched it on Don Larson Day at Yankee Stadium. Don Larson threw the ceremonial first pitch out to Yogi Berra during the pre-game to recreate the 1956 game, then David Cone went out and threw a perfect game.
