no disrespect but you sound kinda lazy in this vid, the point of retwisting your locs is to keep your edges clean neat. its gana look weird 2 have a long section of dreads followed by regular hair. besides the constant products to keep edges down

HYPE WARRIOR!! HYPE WARRIOR!! lol none taken. I'm a mom of 3 amongst other accomplishments I won't brag about, so I'd rule out lazy. I also do hair lol Besides that, retwisting is not essential to the locking process. You can maintain your hair without retwisting. It looks good, Some choose to and some don't. Retwist or no retwist I can bet you my hair is clean and healthy. If you watch my other vids you'll see I'm a minimalist when it comes to products, I maybe use two. And I don't use gel ever, keeping the edges down is not a priority of mine, I keep them moisturized and let them to their thing as seen in this vid and other vids. Stick around for updates!

Just out of curiosity (I don't have locs yet, research purposes ☺️) is this (no retwist) now free form growth and what will the likely shape now become? Will it mat up and flatten naturally? This video inspired me to use only water and oil(s) to maintain my hair and just after the first time, I can already feel a difference relative to my prior retwists. My scalp is much more moisturized, my hair doesn't feel coated with product and the scent of my oils are much more potent and withholding of the scents. I can't wait to see the results over the next 6 months! Thank you!

When your locks are retwisted and "neat"it enhances your beauty by 1000% to me night and day. You just have such a different image to the untwisted look. I personally am able to see your beauty better and your image improves dramatically.

Firstly congratulations on the new baby he's gorgeous! 😀❤️I'm team no retwist too I used to retwist very regularly but trying to stretch it out longer. I use to think I was crazy because I'm not worried about laying my edges down for a neat look like I see in alot of pics. I'm Jamaican so my hair dosent just lay well with gel or other products as long as it's moisturized I'm good. So nope not lazy. It just be like that and I love it!

In the summer it's a chore to retwist because my retwists don't last long because I sweat a lot. I've been covering up my roots with headbands. Thanks for sharing and congrats again.

lavidavi86 I'm not gonna retwist for a whole year. I didn't say I wasn't gonna do anything to it for a whole year...2 different things. I wash my hair at least every 2 weeks. It's obvious you have a bad perception of locs and severely lack understanding. Locs are still hair and they are still treated as such. To think someone's hair is dirty just bc it doesn't please you aesthetically, is wrong. To think the sight of Afro hair is a sign of untidiness stems from other issues. I don't like straight oily hair but that doesn't give me a right to assume ppl with that type of hair dont value hygiene. I assure you mine and the majority of loc wearers' smell like tropical fruits and fresh air 😂 thanks for stopping by tho! Ps. Some ppl don't know much about the things they choose to dislike.

lavidavi86 but she never said that she wasn't going to clean her locs anymore. As in she is never going to shower again. I assure you that she is a clean person and her hair smells delicious. She is embracing her hair and letting it do what it does naturally. I feel sad for you that you feel this way about free form locs. Nothing about natural textured hair is ugly or disgusting. It takes a lot of energy to be hateful and rude. I hope you find peace within yourself soon. ❤️

Updates please! I, at my super early stage (7 months) love the look of a fresh retwist. At the same time I know the danger of retwisting to frequently. I only retwist once every 3 to 4 weeks. Sometimes longer.

Go Gamecocks! I would really like to see updates from time to time. Are you planning to maintain your parts event though you won't be re-twisting? I re-twisted my hair regularly the first year and a half. I started going longer in between re-twist because I loved the fullness of my roots. Now I re-twist once or twice a year. I was planning to make 2017 the year that I stop re-twisting completely, but I got married in June so I decided to re-twist. I washed my hair two days after the wedding and my roots came right back. I doubt I will ever re-twist again. July 14th marked 5 years loc'ed for me. Congrats on your new bundle of joy!

I care about retwistng. I do find myself retwisting a lot less. I go about 2 months now. I don't like the look of a fresh retwist. I know when I'm further n my journey I'll probably go 3-4months.
