foeva Ro word.. I’ve gone through a variety of gel brands with ors purple top gel being the last but itchy scalp and sweat usually followed gel applications. So I tried an oil mixture I made at home. Light oil application. Retwisted and two strand twisted to hold. And it’s my go to product. Took trial and error but I trust myself and have no problem blaming myself for issues I come into (none yet, but accountability is key)

Thank you for sharing your son's loc journey. I started locs on my son a year ago, and he is like your boy. He never wants to wear a head wrap, and always wants to get them wet, and he has so much lint. I don't twists his constantly because he doesn't like it and I was encouraged by older ladies with locs to let him be free. So, I do. Of course, I get judged but, we don't care. All I care about is that is hair is healthy and he's happy. Seeing your son's hair and hearing how he acts with is dreads, let's me know that we are normal. Thanks so much!

@@JahleeyahKalonji it's one of the reasons she's able to maintain so many subscribers. Being respectful and not attacking back. It's not right for people to judge but if you go attacking everyone that makes a comment you disagree with - you're .. A. Giving into negativity , feeding the trolls and sometimes attacking someone who genuinely meant no harm. B. Engaging in a perpetual useless excercise . There will always be naysayers and I doubt she has the time or concern to address them all . Also I'd imagine that would eventually take it's toll. C. Potentially pushing other subscribers away. There's an old saying "Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference ." At most this uploader puts out a friendly disclaimer and goes on about her day. But, I've only done that about 5 times and I've had my locs for 3.5 years. So yes, it's possible to retwist without gel. 2.) My new growth looks like his at 6 weeks 😂. I could not imagine 8 months! And 3.) His locs look just like mine 😍 same thickness and health. Keep it up, you're doing great! Ignore the naysayers

Beautiful locs! I want to try this with my son. He only has locs on the top and I also retwist when he wants. We(there are 2 others with locs in the house) use a lot of gel and spritz and I know that's not good for the hair. Im excited to try oil only. Thanks for the vid! Subscribing!!

You have done such a beautiful job on your son's hair beautiful hair. Stay positive. Don't allow people to get on and make their negative comments. A lot of it is because people are haters you're doing for your son's hair, which is beautiful.😊

Is it ok to go 2-3 months without a retwist if your hair grows away from the lock? If so how do you avoid thinning?

My hair used to grow out of the loc when I was still only using palm rolling as my reloc technique. However, when it got too much and I started experiencing serious thinning, I tried out interlocking and it worked for me. Since then, my hair started growing into the loc and I never experienced thinning again.

I say it’s ok but you can’t neglect those hair, especially at the base. You need them to keep the locs strong. So would separate after washing and reinforce each Loc by wrapping loose hair around without retwisting
