The last time I retwisted my hair, I only used oil and water after seeing your last no gel retwist video.. my hair did well!! If it wasn't for you I never would have attempted a retwist with no holding product!! Thank you💛

foeva Ro word.. I’ve gone through a variety of gel brands with ors purple top gel being the last but itchy scalp and sweat usually followed gel applications. So I tried an oil mixture I made at home. Light oil application. Retwisted and two strand twisted to hold. And it’s my go to product. Took trial and error but I trust myself and have no problem blaming myself for issues I come into (none yet, but accountability is key)

Thank you for sharing your son's loc journey. I started locs on my son a year ago, and he is like your boy. He never wants to wear a head wrap, and always wants to get them wet, and he has so much lint. I don't twists his constantly because he doesn't like it and I was encouraged by older ladies with locs to let him be free. So, I do. Of course, I get judged but, we don't care. All I care about is that is hair is healthy and he's happy. Seeing your son's hair and hearing how he acts with is dreads, let's me know that we are normal. Thanks so much!

@@JahleeyahKalonji it's one of the reasons she's able to maintain so many subscribers. Being respectful and not attacking back. It's not right for people to judge but if you go attacking everyone that makes a comment you disagree with - you're .. A. Giving into negativity , feeding the trolls and sometimes attacking someone who genuinely meant no harm. B. Engaging in a perpetual useless excercise . There will always be naysayers and I doubt she has the time or concern to address them all . Also I'd imagine that would eventually take it's toll. C. Potentially pushing other subscribers away. There's an old saying "Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference ." At most this uploader puts out a friendly disclaimer and goes on about her day. That pisses people off who look to get a rise out of her even more.

I just wanted to say thank you for what you said about cutting his sides and the undercut. My son is 4 and was diagnosed with Autism w/sensory processing disorder and speech delay. I love this video for many reasons. 1.) I don't use gel on my locs (because my loctician didnt) and if I do it's only at the edges; I use aloe vera gel. But, I've only done that about 5 times and I've had my locs for 3.5 years. So yes, it's possible to retwist without gel. 2.) My new growth looks like his at 6 weeks 😂. I could not imagine 8 months! And 3.) His locs look just like mine 😍 same thickness and health. Keep it up, you're doing great! Ignore the naysayers

Only jojoba oil, although we have tried coconut oil, but neither of our hair liked it. This inspired me. My son has been growing dreads for a couple years now. I, like my mother, do not have a “know how to do hair” bone in my body. lol I’ve always hated it. My mom n me can’t do hair, but her sisters n my cousins know how to do hai n have been doing their hair for years. While I always had to either go to them or the hairdresser lol. Anyway, recently, after taking my son to the shop time after time for his retwist, I decided to try n do it myself. I bought a head dryer and everything. I’ve done his hair the last few times and I will say I’m pretty proud and I’m only getting better. However, I could use some tips 👀 lol

Girllll, dont worry about what other ppl say. Looks to me like ur doing a great job. As long as ut getting the result u want, keep doing what ur doing. I just started my lock journy around the beginning of December 2021 and i have to use some type of holding product because i have like mix ppl hair so if i dont use something imma have a head ful of spiral curls. But u did a great job.

Thank you!!! This was my favorite video from all the others researched on here. Started my Starter locks three months and had two retwists since, I prefer one wash/retwist every month. Unfortunately, My third retwist is left up to me due to the quarantine pandemic right now. I’m going to follow your method! My hair is about thick as your sons. Thank you!!!!

this is my first time on this channel. i am 52 years old. my sweet baby boy. you are not alone. i also have sensory issues with water. i cant have water on my ears or sprinkles in my eyes or on my face. i have even had to explaine to the hair dressor before i had to break her arm in fear. and to you, mamma, just ignore the world and keep your baby in what is safe arms for him. love to both of you

People are trtippin'. I dont use gel all the time when retwisting. To me its barely a difference as long as you oil it like you did n the video. I Iove your videos because you are a hair care specialst as well as a stylist and technician. I'm a stylist as well. I am 3 yrs loc'd. My hair is fine and i can only go 5-6 weeks without a retwist. I use a rose water vitamin e blend spray daily and when retwisting. Thanks Yannie the Locoloist! ❤❤My new growth grows outside my locs. ❤

This video was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Techniques, products, and the two strand twist. Thank you! I want to really rid my regimen of excess product and go the oil and water route for retwist. How do you feel about castor oil or a castor oil mix for retwist?

I simply love this video and made it so simple for me. I have a child that has CP. She's 43. It's challenging to get people to be patient with her. So I have been searching that internet KZbin on how to do her locks. Finally follow me. I run across your post video and it is absolutely wonderful. Simple direct. No bunch of use this and use that water twist clamp. Love it. Keep up the great work. God bless

Beautiful locs! I want to try this with my son. He only has locs on the top and I also retwist when he wants. We(there are 2 others with locs in the house) use a lot of gel and spritz and I know that's not good for the hair. Im excited to try oil only. Thanks for the vid! Subscribing!!

You have done such a beautiful job on your son's hair beautiful hair. Stay positive. Don't allow people to get on and make their negative comments. A lot of it is because people are haters you're doing for your son's hair, which is beautiful.😊

Is it ok to go 2-3 months without a retwist if your hair grows away from the lock? If so how do you avoid thinning?
@nkechidouglas5541
@nkechidouglas5541 4 жыл бұрын
My hair used to grow out of the loc when I was still only using palm rolling as my reloc technique. However, when it got too much and I started experiencing serious thinning, I tried out interlocking and it worked for me. Since then, my hair started growing into the loc and I never experienced thinning again.
@DXlocs
@DXlocs 4 жыл бұрын
I say it’s ok but you can’t neglect those hair, especially at the base. You need them to keep the locs strong. So would separate after washing and reinforce each Loc by wrapping loose hair around without retwisting
