He didn't, that's not how depression works, at least I think so. He said in an interview that he's alright when he is with his band, his wife, his kids. The problem begins when he is alone, by himself, and that's when depression hits you the most. It's really dangerous to be alone with a constant voice in your head that keeps pulling you down. It was probably not the first time he was thinking about suicide, but he fought that feeling before. But not this time.

Suicidal people don't wake up one day and decide they are going to kill themselves. Chester was probably planning it for months.
@KingCrazyOne7 жыл бұрын
hitchhiker mostly you can tell if someone is depressed all the time and the moment they are happy, they are planning it, he was letting his fans love of him sink in for one final time before he will possibly send more people into depression from him ending it
@MBeazy37 жыл бұрын
Umm..yes they do. Actually...no they don't. Suicide people don't decide to kill themselves. A voice in their head decides that for them. No question he has had suicidal thoughts for a long time. I have too. I highly doubt this was planned. Suicidal people don't sit down and say..ok..I am going to kill my self in 2 weeks. That's not how it is. Suicide isn't a decision you make. It is a voice..a demon in your head telling you to do it. You are constantly at battle with that demon day in and day out. Some days better than others. Who's to say he hasn't tied a noose around his neck in the past, and then beat that demon in his head t and removed the noose? He is happy in this concert. He is around people who loves - His band and his fans. If only you understood depression, you and others wouldn't be making this ignorant comments. Depressed people succumb to that voice in their head and commit suicide when they are alone. He is happy in the concert. He was devastated by Chris Cornell's death. He didn't plan to kill himself on his bday. What most likely happened was that he was alone (which is dangerous for severely depressed people) and knowing that day was Chris's bday opened and intensified the wound. He was able to find that demon all those other days, but not this day. It was not planned. Well, Of course I don't know that for sure but being a depressed person and knowing how our mind works, I highly doubt it was planned. He simply lost his battle with the demon that day. Succumbing to that demon in your head and taking your life is no different than succumbing to cancer. Depression isn't a decision and suicide isn't a decision. But of course to the outside world it seems to be. It is just crazy..all the pain and heavy darkness that guy group up with and lived through but yet was still able to make millions of people happy...millions of depressed people happy and made us feel like we were not alone. He motivated us to keep fighting and he always will for the rest of my life.
@Paivren7 жыл бұрын
I agree, this wasn't planned. Chester is not the kind of person to 'plan' killing himself without any last words, leaving his wife and family alone in this world, abandoning his best friends and fans who believed in him. Mike also stated that he was full of energy and excitement when it came to future months. When Chris Cornell died, his depression got worse again, and then he was alone that night, on his best friends' birthday and yeah... he was probably overpowered. It feels more like a tragic accident, a moment of weakness than a planned action.

Not for fans, not for money, just for himself and Chris. Everything was just a background. He couldn't sing this with Chris so he did this with you guys... Depression is a cruel, little mean thing... It's like a switch in your brain... You sit on a couch and... Bang, you've been hited on your head with full of emotions, saddnes and feeling of emptiness... There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface Consuming, confusing This lack of self-control I fear is never ending Controlling. I can't seem... [Bridge:] To find myself again My walls are closing in I've felt this way before So insecure [Chorus:] Crawling in my skin These wounds they will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing what is real Discomfort endlessly has pulled itself upon me Distracting, reacting Against my will I stand beside my own reflection It's haunting how I can't seem... [Bridge:] [Chorus:] [Chorus:]

Chester gave his fans his heart, scars and all, so that they could hold something and cherish it and realize that everyone has issues and that everyone can be okay, even when he wasn't. He gave them that light, that shimmer of hope when things were dark. He was truly a magnificent artists and an even more extraordinary person . A man who gave his fans his pain and let them know that they share something, even if it's bad. He was a gift to all those who were lost and he was the hand that pulled them from the darkness.

I've watched this show so many times over a long period of time.. and I cry every single rewatch.. Chester was so raw.. Part of my upbringing was interrupted when he left & that made such a mark 😞 Nobody like him 🤘🏻
