A really fun game! Very fun that it came that close.

I've always enjoyed games like this. Absolutely insane.

Oh gosh, so many SP dice used in rohan. 😮 I am a big advocate for an early Rohan crush, but you've got to clean up after your mess fast or the fungus will grow quick. Recently, when I do go for an early Rohan (via a Mordor or DG army coming from the east), I have been in favour of taking out edoras first and then meeting up with Orthanc on Helms Deep. If FP get an extra muster in there, so be it. The combined forces should be plenty to take care of it, and in the worst case where some ent cards come a knockin’, you just sit on it and muster a few reinforcements

Yeah I think that's actually a slightly underrated element of taking Rohan from the east. The capacity to take out Edoras for a cheap VP, eliminate any chance of treachery in Folde and likely guarantee an HD-takedown can outweigh the downside of committing a whole Mordor stack. When you say a DG army, would that be the remainders of the army post-Lorien takedown or do you actually sometimes send the DG army directly to Rohan? Not sure I've ever considered that tbh.
@Ace_xD9996 ай бұрын
Exactly! Regarding DG army, I mean to target lorien initially (usually with barad dur up to WLR) and then either lorien falls like melted butter and you have plenty of forces for a rohan charge, or as in this game where Lorien got buffed and pivoting to rohan is a decent option. Regarding a direct move from DG to rohan, that is of course a very efficient 2 moves to get to eastemnet, which I have considered before. Usually, I don't favour this because the army doesn't start as very threatening and if you do get mustering cards for DG, then there is more value in rushing WLR. I think the undisputed optimum SP Strat is always to threaten getting an easy 2 elven strongholds early to force FP to spend musters there, and if they do use those musters, then, a cheap Rohan or Gondor becomes an excellent option.

Great game. Some questionable decisions there.

That was quite a game! I am a bit confused about the FSP movement between MT and Mordor, I feel like you need to commit to either staying and healing for a few turns while you do military stuff, or you just go straight to Mordor. Those 2 points of corruption healed does not make up for the extra 3 moves he needed to make. Pretty scummy with that Gandy shine, that was clearly done intentionally. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he thought that that's how it's usually done because someone did it to him, but if you're reading this Alexsky, while that's technically the rules and you're allowed to enforce it, people normally don't except sometimes in top level tournament stuff. It's a lot more fun to try to win based on good strategy than gotchas.

hey, yeah, I'm reading this and yeah - I'm kinda on alert after a few tense tournament games. This one was just a league game and I definitely agree - otherwise why would he brought the Gandalf there... But for the first round of combat we already selected cards and I rolled my re-roll. For the rest of the combat he did shine (although shine/not shine decision is made once per combat, if I'm not mistaken). Then in the next combat I also explicitly asked him about it. So, I don't feel I was too stingy :) As for the declaring back - I also thought it's a mistake. Overall, I felt luck wasn't on my side when it mattered, but after how I screwed up with Rohan, I didn't "deserve" to win :)
@steave4356 ай бұрын
@@r1derousso you knew that he intended to shine, but used the fact that he forgot to declare it. Most people would either just assume that he is or clarify before playing cards. If you didn't realize that Gandy was supposed to shine while selecting cards then I'd understand you, but that doesn't seem to have been the case.

Strongly agree with this Gandy Shine summy take by steave. The log reads like Aleksy immediately played a card after declaring the attack as if to hurry up the FP player into forgetting to declare shine and then throw the letter of the law at Swift, even though Aleksy clearly knew the intent of Swift in sending Gandy there in the first place. All reads as very intentional and very shitty. Just don't be like that, it isn't necessary and it is poor sportsmanship. Also agree with the point about committing to the heal. If I were FSP here on turn 6 against the 4 eyes I would have used that C dice to do literally ANYTHING but move, including just discarding the dice if i had no other use for it (though there were plenty of options for uses for it in this case)

I think the community would generally benefit if we would care to restrain ourselves from throwing around words like “scummy” and “shitty”. As to the point that has awoken the judgmental dragon - if he wanted to enforce the letter of the law and was planning the whole shining thing all along, why would he allow to shine in the next rounds?
@steave4356 ай бұрын
@@kirillkrechetnikov1757 i think the community benefits from calling out bad behavior, and if how obvious it was that gandy should shine combined with his reaction of instantly going "no, it's not assumed, it was done to me" wasn't enough for you to realize that it was on purpose, he himself confirmed that he thought it was obvious here in the thread.

A couple small things, you called a 1/10 army (reg/elite) 10 hp, that would be 12, and a 4/1 army 5 hp, that would be 6.
@GenericPieWOTR6 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yeah I often make little mistakes in the comms - kinda inevitable when you ramble for 60+ mins non-stop! If it's something obvious like that or calling Strider Aragorn or whatever, it's just a result of my tired brain trying to do a lot at once!

@@GenericPieWOTR I know, i wasn't trying to be a jerk, just pointing it out. I'd prob make many more mistakes if I cast a game, I'd prob do something stupid like call Strider Vigo.
