If you watch the Louie Shelton video on KZbin, he tells you that he played the riff entirely with a pick as he wanted a bright punchy sound from the Tele. And Louie was the lead guitarist on the original record.

yep the real key is just try to get a clean sound with Reverb so it holds a little bit when you strike it and you could pick it perfectly I've played along with the track playing and it comes out really good

hummm in the original song recording there was no finger picking at all none!!!! just check louie shelton youtube video and he says it himself that the producer did not want any finger picking because they wanted a very crisp sound which they very much accomplished that...louie shelton was the original player on this song...the reason why it might sound like there is some finger picking is because they used 3 guitars...all playing at the same time...it was all done on a telecaster... blonde at that...so ...

Nice Starfire! I have one very similar (same satin finish too), I even took the pick guard off like yours, but mine has a Bigsby on it. Love that guitar, it was a very early addition to my collection.

Its a really a nice piece enjoying learning it on a Acoustic Martin doesn't have the same dynamics as an electric but nice fairly easy picking piece for me to learn, many many Thanks for putting the complete tab up there to follow S

louie shelton said he used a pick -just saw it here on youtube -there were three guitarists all playing something. that high little riff you hear was one guitarist's job for the whole song

Iam playing it on Acoustic Guitar would Classical guitar be better for picking parts with greater spacing between strings ? Thanks for putting TAB on there though massive help !

Thanks for the lesson and tab. Sweet. 2 points from a non DB place: 1/ assuming I am playing live and know the song inside out, my singer will probably stuff up the lyrics, so cannot rely on his cue lol 2) as you mentioned on the recording (and no doubt he finger picked it) for non-hybrid/banjo roll nerds like moi..this seems decent non? m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4nJaXZohM-CqNE
