That is a beautiful guitar, I do hope it's all wood and not veneer, it's still a stunning piece of work either way. The birds on the fret board are a great touch. Oh yes...great lesson as well.

Thanks Chris, yes the maple top is a lot thicker than a veneer. It's a PRS Custom 22 if you are interested, lovely guitar. Keep on pluckin' cheers N&J🎸

@@NickandJane I am very interested, and I researched it. Wow! If the Euromillions comes in for me, I'll "add to basket", meanwhile, I wish you many happy years with yours.

Thank You for the great lesson. Probably the best one for this song on here. Icing on the cake would have been using a Telecaster into a Fender Super Reverb Amp to deliver that twangy chime.
@NickandJane3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback - you're dead right a Tele and Fender Super Reverb would nail the sound. It's an interesting point as in the TV shows the Monkeys were always shown with semi acoustics and Vox amps to mimic the Beatles, but that was definately not how the sound was generated. Did you checkout the solo and backing track video's? Cheers N&J🎸

Thanks Robert. Always happy to accept suggestions for future lessons, but I've drawn a blank on "Cruising Pl", could you give me the full song title & artist please and we'll see what we can do? All the best N&J.

more folks need to remember this song! Funny thing, and much thanks Nick ;-): I was trying to play the second gtr part of the outro from another YT vid, and the gent had 10-12 10-12 10-12 10-12 | 10-13 10-13 etc, and my fingers (picking) simply refused to play it! Kept wanting to play 12-10 12-10 etc. So strange I simply couldn't get my fingers to do it?! Thank you for settling the minor pisser of the evening! Be Well! [ed:] WRONG! read below> Actually, just saw the original player on the studio recording, and Wrecking Crew member - Louie Shelton who is credited with the intro, demonstrating it was the first tab I saw which is correct. And played with fingers, it actually works very well! So: 10-12 the first 4 beats, 10-13 the second. Look up Louie's solo here on YT. It also is a very straight 16th beat, though Nick's version swings nicely! :-)

Hey Nick & Jane from Oamaru NZ. Thanks 4 yr quick reply. I only know it as 'cruising' by Mike Nesmith. I made up the words 4 a couple getting married, but don't know how to play it.

Thanks Robert, I'm not familiar with this one - I just looked it up on KZbin and I think it is a bit too long for one of my lessons. Sorry. Cheers N&J : )

Love the lesson but that guitar needs a good setup. The fret buzz is horrendous

Hi Joseph, glad you enjoyed the lesson. Yes the guitar did need need a bit of attention, the reality of gigging in the UK with 4 seasons in one day😢. Cheers N&J🎸
