Cheers to Olav for representing all of us. Love seeing him progress and I'm sure he'll keep improving!!!

I like seeing the exercises Olav is using to improve. These are the things I need in order to work my way up to a front lever. Keep up the great work, Olav.
@simondehaas64606 жыл бұрын
Wayne London I realy recommend you to go through the usual progressions (adv tuck, one leg, adv one leg, full) while also doing alot of pull up and pull ups with added weight. FL raises are also usefull.

Props Magnus, have been following you for a year now, so pretty much since i started climbing. Always inspiring to see you climbing and how you approach your day to day live. And now with your brother joining you i finally have someone to relate to in terms of training haha love it! Keep it coming mate, you're doing a great service to the climbing community!

Mirin those Midtbø tendon-genetics! As a beginner I would have suffered from tendonitis after such a workout Olav did. (Campus lock-off's, front lever work, double dyno's up AND down...)

Olav! You’re def. my idol right now! But that figure 8 knot was rough to look at haha keep up all the hard work!

haha what an outrageous tail on olavs figure 8! I was waiting for him to clip it in the draw instead of the proper rope and cop a surprise whipper!
@RonaldoMessina6 жыл бұрын
and the knot was too far from the harness. The belayer should have warned him and made him redo it properly.
@jontylewis73016 жыл бұрын
yeah, given he clearly is new to consistent route climbing the belayer should have said something, but Im sure now that he is going to be route climbing way more consistently he will learn the appropriate length of rope for the knot and this way people get to see an extreme version of a common error, and its something people kcan learn from. Its super cool to see a new climber progressing along a pro climber, so Keep up the good work Olav!
@Liofa735 жыл бұрын
Jonty Lewis -- Everyone's an expert/critic. Personally I am a bit of a perfectionist about things like this, but it was fine for that route, as long as he wasn't standing on. A couple of safety knots to take ip the slack would have helped.

One armed front lever is INSANE!!! Good job!! And its great to see Olav's improvement. Im at 97kg (215lbs) and can do double front lever and rear lever, but knowing the weight and size I can tell you that climbing isn't easy for the bigger guys hah. Good stuff boys!!

@simondehaas64606 жыл бұрын
Hey Magnus, looking forward to your time in Spain and also your progression towards the One Arm Front Lever. Though why did you put it in there as a core exercise? It's a lat and shoulder exercise, the abs only straighten out the legs while the Lats have to hold the whole body in place (Posterior deltoits also help). Thus the lats carry a much bigger lever and are the main muscle being used. I wish you the best, good luck in spain. And most importantly have fun.

@Olav I wouldn't recommend to do dynamic stuff on the campus board. But you should have the same genetics like your brother/sister, with monster like pulleys. Other beginners woult strain their pulley really fast on the campus board. :)

No to mention their shoulders. Campusboarding is definitly a tool for more experienced athletes.

Well even if he sustains without injury all this is going to do is giving him too much power which is going to make him struggle to learn proper technique. I don't see the point, really. Learning to climb is a slow process, not something you force....

I'm late to this party but really enjoying the channel. Quick question - Olav is climbing a 6a+ at 8:43 onwards; I thought in YDS that would convert to 5.10a/b rather than 5.11a? Loving this channel, seeing Olav's progression is awesome too. Would like to see how many pull ups he can do / how heavy a weighted pull. Also is his climb 6b+ (5.11a) or 6a+ (5.10c)?
@qwertzuipong6 жыл бұрын
The white route that Olav is climbing is supposed to be 6a+ which you say translates to 5.11a. Is that correct? I thought 6a+ translates to 5.10b-c rather than 5.11a? The route doesn't look like 5.11a and if he already climbed that grade, it would be pretty impressive i think.

Hey! Love the vlogs Magnus and co. I feel like I gotta remind you to stay safe though xD The climb starting @8:46 was scary to watch. Not Olav, he's climbing well and progressing nicely. But... the grip the belayer was using coupled with that knot and the experience of climber.. that was way to sloppy. Rant mode: ON I've been climbing for 10+ years and I'm a certified climbing instructor so I realize I might get a bit more fussed up by these things than other people. But please, stay safe! Use proper belaying techniques (the "technique" during that climb was not proper.. the absolute opposite) and PARTNER CHECK.. please.. do and USE the partner check to make sure everything is safe. And yes that should entail making sure your belayer not only knows, but also applies proper technique for belaying. Rant mode: OFF Keep the vlogs coming!
