Going to Japan for about a month in a few days. I've been studying japanese for about a year, and I think my japanese is at a similar level to yours, and I was feeling a bit anxious about not having learned enough before my trip. But sharing your experiences with it has made me feel a lot better about it. Thanks!

Loved this video, Kevin....I think you will feel pangs of nostalgia for your wonderful experiences in beautiful Japan when you re-watch it. Your insights into Japanese language learning and culture are well observed and you have discernment and sensitivity. On the practical side, if you lived for ~70 Euros a day in Osaka you were incredibly frugal. You should come clean and confess to us that you slept on couches in friends' houses after your sake + karaoke fuelled nightlife! 🤣 Seriously, tell us what your secret was. Even if using AirBnb rather than hotels, your budget was fantastic. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. Happy that you are supercharged to progress your Japanese!

Hahaha so basically I have a deal with my airbnb host and he charges me around 28 pounds per night 😁. I'm lucky!

@@KevinAbroad Your airbnb was a steal! I found nothing like that even in less touristy areas of Japan. Good for you! I forgot earlier I had wanted to comment on your experience of returning some clothing items...this was an excellent example of how production/output i.e. "talking" is a skill that magically does not materialize by watching 12 hours of anime every day. It needs practice to develop like every skill.

Thanks for the update. Inspiring me to continue developing my caveman Japanese knowing a little goes a long way.

Very jealous man. I've wanted to visit Japan since I was in high school 13 years ago. Listening to you talk about your experience there brought back some of that wonder I felt for Japan as a teenager. I'll get there some day.

"Japanese people are really good with customers" You're sitting in one of the few countries on Earth where it's acceptable to kick people out of the restaurant because they're not Japanese or don't speak Japanese. :/ Of course people are learning Japanese so they can travel.
