1:00 That's a stamp. More specifically, it's called a self-inking rubber stamp. At the top is an ink cussion. In its idle position, the "punch" which holds all the letters, is pressed against it. When the stamp is pushed down, the punch rotates 180° away from the cushion, and is pressed onto the paper at the end of its travel. Thus transferring the ink onto the paper. All the letters can be switched out, they're little rubber inlays you can push into the punch to make it read whatever you want. Basically a miniature printing press.

1:50 That's actually marketing. The original pride flag is public domain. The edited ones are owned by someone, so whenever a new one is made someone is trying to make some cash. The idea that inclusivity is dependend on being "colorized" in a flag is counterintiutive to the idea of equality among people and therefore can realistically only be an economic drive.
@MrHodoAstartes
@MrHodoAstartes Ай бұрын
I have to agree that a flag can't really do things to help trans people, intersex people or other groups be included more. That's a social and political issue. But these days you have so many groups trying to actively push out people from queer spaces (usually while not being there themselves) that active inclusion is warranted. Still an ugly flag and an ugly business idea. But I'll take that over insane TERFery.
@j3n9a
@j3n9a Ай бұрын
I also think the new "more inclusive" one is actually less inclusive. The rainbow flag can be interpreted to include everyone but by feeling the need to add something new to it to represent every group, in the end you are always going to have to leave someone out (or in the end just have a complete mess made up of all sorts of shapes and colors)
@APCLZ
@APCLZ Ай бұрын
i am part of the community and have been to CSDs in my hometown a lot of times. The reason they keep adding colours is that specific groups started to adopt specific colours of the flag. Like the Bisexuals started using the blue and violet colour mix and i think that was the start of it. it's kinda unfortunate people feel the need to label themselves somehow and link that to symbolism or colour. but then again maybe people just want others to know where they're at so they need that. it's very tricky and there is no solution to the problem.

@@APCLZthe problem is tradition driven society. Germans are racists like 90%of everyone in the world, but even more sexists. While racism is explained and understood for most meanwhile, the sexm is not understood, not watched and even by fare worse in Germany. Kids do not distinguish by color or gender, they are treated to. You are girl by biology? So here is pink, barbie, be quiet and servant. You are boy? So it is blue, machine, be brave and dominant. Gender cloth, gender jobs, gender paymentc- no necessity of that.

11:00 The police also are under pretty tight regulations for privacy and information control. They will not tell you who they are looking for or why if that could risk warning a perp or hamper their work. They never just come to your stairwell to ask names. They are looking for someone. So you ID yourself and that's it. If you don't know what the cops are here for, chances are it isn't you.

The Police are not allowed to just randomly identify people, not even in Germany...And If you don't believe me, just google "Hörnlein & Feyler Fachanwälte, WAS DARF DIE POLIZEI BEI EINER PERSONENKONTROLLE?", for example ;) It is not like you wrote that there are exceptions from the right of the Police to identify you but it clearly is the other way round, namely there are exceptions to YOU RIGHT TO NOT identify. Yes, you have to identify yourself in Germany if the police ask you to do so. Usually by presenting an official ID. @@Scamander This is not so easy, especially not in Germany. If you are in special places, e.g. at the railway station or at the airport or government buildings, the police do not need a valid reason - it is a matter of confirming your identity, which is regulated in the police laws of the respective countries. Furthermore, this also applies to special professions groups, e.g. to prevent illegal employment. I don't know about that police part. It would definitely make me stop and think twice, especially if the person in question hasn't been living in Germany for an extended period of time and thus has some experience and a read on a situation. There are people out here that dress up as police and then randomly approach people demanding to know things or rob them. You can always demand to see their official police id, which they have to show to prove they are part of the police forces. But even then, unless you did something or were acting suspiciously it would still feel weird to me. You could just call the actual police and tell them you were approached and ask if they have any units in the area randomly asking people.

It's not that simple from an US perspective. In the US you should never talk to the police since they might use the most benign information against you, especially if you are innocent. They are also allowed to lie to you or the courts (the latter one if not by law, at least in practice). With higher crime rates and pressure to 'solve' crimes, which usually means punishing whoever is easiest to get a hold of. Common law with its adversarial system (i.e. the DA is have a hard incentive to lock away as many people as possible, intendent of their guilt) you have the problem that the slightest perception in testimony or unrelated lies to avoid embarrassment can be used to build a case against you. Thanks to the jury system, the DA only needs to convince 12 individuals, who were too stupid to get out of jury duty and likely buy into all this law and order bullshit. TL;DR: DON'T TALK TO THE COPS IN THE US - and, if you are so inclined, treat paranoid Americans with some understanding.

Whenever I've met or called them they were always super respectful, proved to be friendly and helpful. It's a huge difference compared to the USA where gladly auditors form all over the country. Ti become a police offer takes a really long time if you consider field training was well. It's not by the slightest comparable to the accelerated process of a couple of month in the States and pokice immunity. You can look up at how many rounds have been fired each year. It's most likely a number between 90 and 200 (all police officers in Germany combined). That's what US cops would call a shootout with a single person.

According to the law, unless you're in high risk areas (e.g. known drug dealing areas, demonstrations, and so on), police are not allowed to randomly approach you and run checks on you. They always have to provide a reason for contacting you. If they contact you and have a reason (that is more than "because we can / are bored / want to") then yes you have to tell them your name, date of birth, place of residence and nationality when asked for that information. Which is basically pretty much all the information on your ID card (it also contains height and eye color, but if they are speaking to you they already know that bit). 11:35 Like "LarsFromMars92" wrote, it is called a "Personenkontrolle", and has to have a reason. It can however be "verdachtsunabhängig" - not based on a concrete suspicion - however generally only if you are at a place and time where some crime happened or was arranged or where criminals met. It depends however on the state - Bavarian police law grants the police far more rights than e.g police law in NRW or Lower Saxony. The police can than ask for your name, address and nationality; they can alternatively also ask for your ID card, but since you are not obliged to carry it along, you don't have to show it. (Except if you're driving a car, then you are obliged to have at least your driver's license with you.) 12:18 Russia has already stationed similar weapons in striking distance of the eastern NATO countries. 8:30 The Nevada Supreme Court interpreted "identify" under the state's law to mean merely stating one's name. As of April 2008, 23 other states had similar laws. Additional states (including Arizona, Texas, South Dakota and Oregon) have such laws just for motorists, which penalize the failure to present a driver license during a traffic stop.
@duit111
@duit111 Ай бұрын
You are not right, that the U.S. police do have the authority to ask for your name, driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance during a traffic stop or other similar encounters. Here's a bit more detail on the legal aspects of these interactions: Traffic Stops During a traffic stop, police officers can ask for: Driver's License: Proof that you are legally allowed to drive. Vehicle Registration: Proof that the vehicle is properly registered. Proof of Insurance: To ensure the vehicle is insured as required by law. Failure to provide these documents can result in legal consequences, including citations and potential arrest. Identification in Other Situations In some states, known as "stop and identify" states, police officers can ask for your name if they have reasonable suspicion that you are involved in criminal activity. The specifics can vary by state: Stop and Identify States: In these states, you are required to provide your name if asked by a police officer who has reasonable suspicion of criminal activity. Refusal can lead to arrest. Non-Stop and Identify States: In these states, there is no legal requirement to provide your name unless you are being detained for a specific offense. Legal Basis The authority of the police to ask for identification comes from various laws and court rulings, including: Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states can require individuals to provide their names to police officers under certain circumstances. State Laws: Individual state laws may provide specific requirements regarding identification. In summary, while the police do have the right to ask for identification during traffic stops and in certain other situations, the specifics can vary depending on the state and the context of the interaction.

I was always wondering why the US police unlike the German police do so many individual traffic stops all the time. Some assumed they had to fulfill a certain quota for tickets. But obviously they do it bc only during traffic stops they are allowed to check on ppl's identity (if they are not in a Stop & Identify state). Which is also why the US drivers license is commonly seen as an ID card. Americans do not have any other ID card, right, only their drivers license and some a passport - but even a passport is rare in US. - Now one could also assume that they do not stop simply completely random ppl out of the blue but ppl whom they might have spotted before and found to be for whatever reason to be "suspicious" at least so much, they wanna check their identity and thus follow and stop them... from there u might also understand why so many of these traffic stops get completely out of hands and police acts so hostile/suspicious towards those they wanna check upon... and also why so many ppl go completely nuts, like they wanna escape or pull a weapon etc. where I always wondered: 'why do they act so crazy, knowing the US cops most likely reaction?' - ....Then for the most part it turns out the controlled ones were engaged in petty crimes... and many end up shot.

About that police thing: You can just ask back that they should show you their badge, they are obliged by law to do so if you ask them, they HAVE to be able to identify themselves as official working forces of the state. Elsewise, if they don't, they might not be real cops and you should as soon as possible call the real police.

Rules to handle Police in Germany: If they ask you something just greet them and answer if possible. If they behave suspicious like asking for specific informations they do not need like stuff you wouldn't reveal normally like Credit card informations, money related stuff etc. ask them to identify themself pls and you are allowed to call the police to varify their identity also you do not have to answer stuff that they shouldn't know about in the first place. Data you have to give are Date of birth and name to verify your own identity and they would normally ask you for your "Personal Ausweis" or ID. What can they do? To verify your identity they can check your given data with the data stored by the gouvernment this would reveal for example where you actually live which they will normally ask you if they feel that you do not belong in the place you are right now. If you behave like most americans probably would you might end up on the police station so just be honest and you will have nothing to fear at all. Why would they ask you randomly? There is no reason to feel frightend when encountering the police in Germany they will do random checks of persons to make sure nothing is wrong. Often workers might be stopped when leaving their work late in remote areas because they just want to verify you are not there to steal for example or you get stopped to check if you are drunk or influenced by other illegal drugs while driving.... Any form of bad behavior will alarm them to check for possible crimes however. They do not want work by the way as there is nothing like a ratio to fullfill or something stupid like that. The less they have to do the better for them so an encounter with them normally takes between 2 and 10 minutes (if you are stopped while driving as they check also if the car is yours and if it is checked by the TÜV and allowed to be driven on public streets therefor. If they have something to fine you for like a broken light for example they will tell you that and often enough just give you a warning about it to repair it asap. If they have a bad day or experience with you you are more likely to get a fine instead. Americans tend to overreact everything that might cut their "freedom" by default and escalate situations that would be done in seconds without their bad behaviour. This is even more funny when you see them smal talk all the time to complete strangers but when some officials appear they have to freak out. Of course it allways feel uneasy to deal with police even in Germany and we all are happy not to encounter them personally but in general their are only 3 scenarios of which the first is the normal: Allgemeine Personalkontrolle / Fahrzeugkontrolle (general identity or car check) like mentioned before normal safety checks with nothing to fear you are guilty! Than you probably know it yourself or it is a minor offense like a broken light for example. check for witnesses near a crime scene which is why they will also verify your identity for later consulting if needed. In short 99% of all police encounters in Germany are related to make your life save and protect you from possible harm. In the missing 1% you are mostly at fault for your behavior or wrongdoings. However of course their is profiling involved as well. Young people and people of color and males in general are checked more often than others because of statistics. I myself was checked 4 times on a 20 minute drive from my working place to my home once just because I was driving as a young man and had a scratch on the back of my car. I knew I didn't do anything wrong so I passed the first check than the 2nd and after that I just named the guys from before and they kept laughing about it. Was it annoying? Sure but at least it makes up for a nice story ;) Was it my fault? Because of the scratch yes (i had hit the socket of a downpipe on our house which made a big red scratch on my blue car) so I got why they checked me therefor on the other hand because of the profiling I would argue no. By the way I had this car for 17 years while I got older the scratch remained and yes there were stil a few encounters with the police because of that but overall it was more likely to check if I drive while drunk or while I drove at really odd times like 3 am coming back from work ;) By the age of 38 I would argue I had more than 50 police encounters so far of which only in 3 cases I faced an actual fine of which 1 was the final crash for my beloved car grating me a 10€ fine for damaging anothers property (of course the bill for the repairs where way higher but they at least could prove I was not drunk so the insurance company couldn't argue about that All together it took me less than 2 hours combined to deal with them by simply beeing friendly and honest. By the way I was asked if I witnessed something in 4 cases and I basically had a similar encounter like mentioned in the vid where they were looking for a neighbour of mine that lived in the flat under the roof in the house I live in as well.

Kinda sickening how many people spread misinformation about this. You generally do not have to provide your identity to the police. You must only do so in certain situations, like at the borders with other countries, when you are in predefined areas (for example because theyre crime hotspots), because the police have reasonable suspicion you are involved in a crime (like if a crime just happened and you are in the area) or at traffic stops. In any case you have the right to know the reason they can ask you for identification before you provide it. If they cannot or dont want to give you any reason you dont have to provide identification and they cannot detain you to get your identification.

Generally every person is supposed to have his identity card ready to show. If a person who is obviously a police officer is asking for your identity card you're obliged to present it. They may accept a different document if it comprises your basic personal data and a picture of you. 3:40 People without money (or rather who grew up without money) tend to be materialistic. People who went hungry as kids will prioritise food for the rest of their lives. My mother was born in the mid 50s to uneducated parents, so they didn't have much growing up. She's a real (and successful, she now gets my upper middle class income that I went to uni for just from her pension, the majority of which she got for marrying someone 20 years older who died 2 years later) gold-digger and utterly incapable of considering anything beyond basic needs. Her world is food, sleep, TV, sex and buying clothing. Also getting sunlight. I mean, we're talking about someone struggling with the basic concept of a metaphor, so maybe not the best example, but there is at least a general trend along these lines. So anyways, modern Germans don't struggle for food (it's actually incredibly cheap here), so it doesn't matter to them. People are shaped by their childhoods and see the world through the lense of their (usually early) experiences. Edit: well, it really depends on how you interpret the question. Ofc inviting someone to dinner only to give them microwaved food or takeout is cheap and insulting. Why even invite someone then? But generally, my comment still applies. Open hospitality is always more of a thing in poorer areas. That's just natural.

The Left meanwhile is still as previously. They are in general against Weapon shipments, but some like Bodo Ramelow ( minister President of thuringia) are in favor while he wished for a "non- aggresion pact" with russia for a future peace. This is oversimplifying it but as a rule of thumb you can always expect the extremists to be stronger in the new states (so the former GDR). It is of course different now, since the lines have been blurred and the system has left its traditional track by quite a bit but traditionally the smaller right and left wing extremist parties are dominant in those areas. (the alt right party is now as big or even stronger than the traditional parties and the left wing is split up in a large one that is not really typical modern left wing but rather just a personality cult that gets its voters by finally discarding academic-socialism and focusing on real-politics but also by sucking up to the right wing xenophobes and the russia-supporters and a small one that essentially doesn’t matter anymore) In the east, many people feel like they were mistreated by the old traditional western parties during and after unification so they essentially vote for anything but them (and the greens, since they won’t benefit their situation in the short term)

Dear Ryan, will you ever learn the correct pronunciation of our ICE train???? Please have a try at least. Each letter us spellt on its own. It has nothing to do with ice cream and this fault is really disturbing!

A bit different to the US. In germany you have to identify yourself (by law) if a police officer asks you to, even without a reasonable suspiction. But you don't have to answer any further questions.

Identification by the police is (only) permitted under certain conditions, which are regulated in the police law of the respective federal state. These conditions usually include: suspicion of a criminal offense, to avert danger, in particularly dangerous situations (e.g. major events or demonstrations).
