I, Borg is legitimately my favorite episode of TNG. I love the theme, and the Borg are probably my favorite "villains" in Star Trek. I was so happy when Hugh returned later in TNG. (I didn't watch Picard, but I read about what happens.)

You're spot on with why Tom Paris isn't Nick. Although they originally planned to bring Nick back as a character in the future voyager show... they didn't want to pay royalties per voyager show to the person who created the character of Nick, so they altered him ever so slightly with all kinds of other excuses about Nick being :"not redeemable" due to his personality. so therefore would not fit the character role of Tom, who was meant to be a starfleet reject who redeemed himself. Even the actor covers up (Just like his character) using that excuse... but it's bull to say Nick was "not redeemable" as... even though Nick was angry at Wesley, he was still willing to take on full responsibility for the accident and the cover up... to get the others off the hook. He still stood up for his team and did the honorable thing... so he was very MUCH redeemable as a character. I think it's wierd that Wesley spilled the beans when they had already ruled... and already deemed that all of them would just get off with a mark on their record and ban from flying for a while. Why even say anything??? he then risked getting expelled himself, just to please Picard? Nick was right.. Picard didn't really have enough evidence to prove anything. Just an open shaft door? I thinkt he writers here just made a mess... would have been better if Westley came clean BEFORE there was a ruling and things still in doubt. Clearly... that writer didn't deserve all the royalties of every Voyager episode :D

DS9 writers seemed to forget about Ethics in a few years when they go almost exactly opposite where Worf doing Klingon killing stuff is now completely wrong and the Federation/Starfleet is totally against it, though Federation mind wipes are cool. The Cause and Effect message when did they have the time to figure out that plan? They don't know their tractor beam won't work (mainly because they don't do it soon enough) until the Boseman hits them and they explode 30 secs later. Not much time to figure out what they should do or change or how to relay that back in time.

@whiskeyhound3 жыл бұрын
When you're accepting your friends help to rescue someone because you wanted to fuck em, risking both your friend's life and their career that basically would cause worf to want to kill himself again, kinda a dick move.

Hue's gruesome death represents everything wrong with Star Trek Picard. Its so overly dark when star trek has always been about an optimistic future.

@mrbibs3503 жыл бұрын
@@aaronsibley Both of them died in Picard. Icheb gets kidnapped and has his borg parts stripped out and Seven mercy kills him. Hugh gets his throat slit by a Romulan and slowly drowns in his own blood. Kind of supports the idea that Picard is "overly dark". Pretty spot on really.

Hugh was one of the few positive things in Picard, so *of course* he had to die.

@@mrbibs350 why can't it be dark? there's plenty of other trek that isn't that you can watch if you don't like it. plus it's not new for star trek. there's plenty of episodes in voyager and especially ds9 that get super dark
@AbsoluteTravisT3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronsibley I enjoyed Picard for what it was but it was more than just an episode or two, it made the entire Trek future a dark dystopia where every other person had a dark side and it didn't really feel much like TNG at all.

Oh I just realised that Ben is thinking about the Star Trek: Enterprise episode that's pretty similar to the Outcast. This alien race needs a 3rd gender to like catalyise the sex to form a baby and the government of this species like rent them out to couples who want to fuck bc only like 1% of the population are this 3rd sex and Trip has a riker romance with them and teaches them how to read.

I fully admit, I can't STAND Lwaxana Troi or how ever you spell i, she grates on my nerves and I generally skip re watches of her episodes,. but I do LOVE the relationship between Alexanda and Worf, so I suffered through that episode a few times... and it did have some good points to it. Deanna's wedding hair style, and Worf, clearly not understanding why they just "sit" in a mud bath, was worth the watch. It was also fun to see Worf pop the bubble with the stupid checkered clown face in it as that face was so cringy! and since I always like to face palm on Lwxana's outfits... seeing her with out one at all, and everyones experssions, was worth the watch too. Fav line from that episode... Picard "Nothing would please me more than to give away Mrs Troi!"
