Finally, a team project where all the members do their work.

It'd be cool if instead of just spawning in the building with random objectives.. the game starts out with you and your friends hanging in your room or hanging at the park and talking about recent murders that have been taking place, or "have you guys heard the legend of"(whatever character the killer picked). Then someone says something like "oh crap I left my disc at the computer lab, can you guys come with me to the school to go get it?" Maybe there could be some playable parts for survivors and killers before they get into the school, like the killer has to click on houses or the park and find the kids and start eavesdropping on them behind a tree, or if they're at a house then outside their window, listening to what their objectives are, how they want to get into the building etc. Like "I don't know dude I think the school's closed you really think we should?", someone else: "yeah I think we can, I know this sidedoor that's broken right now we could get in that way!", or "I know a vent we can use". Or if you're a spider killer instead of eavesdropping you can choose to spin webs in the basement while they're on their way to the school. Or if you guys are hanging in your room you guys can choose to bring little weapons with you, that won't killer the killer but can distract him a few times (like a slingshot), one kid brings a baseball bat, one kid says oh here's a flashlight that'll be useful. One kid can grab some gum and use it to make one trap. Stuff like that you know? Or else it could just be a little non playable story scene that everyone can choose to skip if they want, like the F13th scenes but longer and possibly slightly interactive would be cool. I just want a game where it actually feels like a full on movie instead of just spawn, do objectives, avoid killer, repeat. Which is great and all but being in a horror movie video game would be really sick, and so would playing as a killer in one. This game comes pretty damn close though, looking forward to playing now that DBD looks like it's going downhill. And then with every new killer comes a new story (aka movie). If Supermassive games can release a pretty decent movie game every year then this would definitely be possible for a company (maybe not this one lol). But something where another person can play the bad guy would just be really cool, that's something supermassive doesn't offer. With proxy chat as well, so if you're really scared the killer might be there you have to whisper to each other, if you get separated from your team you're alone and at risk if you make noise.

I remember first finding this game from some KZbinrs I watched, and the whole game captivated me. I even showed a friend of mine the game and he instantly was surprised that such a great well developed game went under so many people's radars. The game felt like it captured the best parts of games I loved at the time: * Left 4 Dead 2 (Versus) * Dead by Daylight * Friday the 13th The Game And yet still had its own unique identity and speciap nuances that made the game so interesting. I know it's most likely not possible now, but this game is amazing and I wish it made a comeback, I reckon it could've competed with the likes of Dead By Daylight.

Damn I haven't played Last Year in 4 years. Played it when it launched on Discord and suffered through the days of the Taser + Flamethrower combo.. Saw the wave of DbD players flood in and flood out saying it was just another clone. Witnessed the end times of where the game had essentially died on Discord and the game started to migrate over to Steam. I never picked up the Steam version but was very well tempted to but I knew the game was on its last legs. This was all during an era of multiplayer horror gaming that were all trying to be or unintentionally mixed in with games trying to be the next DbD. While DbD had the playerbase and social spotlight on it, it lacked creativity and was essentially a "base". You had games like Friday the 13th, Deathgarden, In Silence, Resident Evil: Resistance, and Last Year to name a few that also played with the whole "Survivors V BBEG" but what they had over DbD was style and unique gameplay mechanics and systems. It was always sad to me to see that the majority of the players for these games were without a doubt DbD players and would always compare this new game to DbD to every extent and it was rarely positive comparisons either. It was always "Euuuhhh. THIS game does this worse than DbD! And DbD has this, that and this while this game doesn't! This game is just a Dbd clonnzz!" I always missed Last Year. Was it a bit jank and unbalanced in some regards and hell even downright unfair in certain situations? Yes. But it had *charm* and I liked that.
