"Clips, not magazines" that was good. Also i only have a free things from olsa so far, but what I have got has been really good. Their main head quarters/warehouse is only 40mins from my shop so super convenient. Also something of their's you might really enjoy is their paint pens, really good quality and made in the USA

Love the Olsa sets. One of the “curses” (first world problem for sure) of having wide assortments of tools in your shop, is sometimes I spend more time thinking through the five ways I could solve a problem, than actually doing the job. Anybody else? This video made me think of that!
@DaveLowe28Күн бұрын
Every time. And then I end up regretting the order of ways in which I've tackled a job if it takes a few different attempts.

funny how this video made me think of that too.🙂

In addition to low price, low profile and triple drive solutions, Doc gave us two bonus words-of-the-day in this video: 'stubbyize' and 'swivelize'. Always a pleasure to add new terms to my vocabulary set 😊 Oh, and also, for some reason, I am very glad that those are clips, not magazines 😂

I needed an ultra stubby for newer Toyota 8-speed transfer case fill bolt (10mm hex). Only the Mayhew ultra stubby was stubby enough. Even though Mayhew is expensive, I am loving them more and more.

I need those. They're the perfect length for getting into tight spots. All of mine are twice that long. Thanks for showing them. Have a great day Doc

Hello again, Doc Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I like the Olsa SAE version. If you have the stubby version your set. The Snap-on version isn't necessary. So you cut your costs and get what you you really need. Stay safe and warm. Again thank you 👌

There are also wrenches with retaining rings for the purpose of running them.

I misread the title and thought compared to the snap on of course they are cheaper. 300 to 100. Then when you said the actual snap on price I almost spit out my coffee and reread the title. For that price I would just use my teeth and then go to the dentist. I would still be ahead.

For what it’s worth…Harbor Freight sells an 87 piece Quinn set that’s $100 (as low as $69 at the right time). Includes SAE & metric, long, short (not stubby) and even E-Torx. Lifetime warranty. Like I said for what it’s worth.

Have a set of titan sae impact stubbies I use at work,but they don't have the outer drive capability.They still work great.

I wish I could find sets like these of low profile sockets and but sockets that the hex size on the bottom is 14mm. Then they would directly drop in to the Milwaukee insider ratchet

The Snap on price is insane. The Olsa stuff seams great, never never heard of it. I wonder if it's available here in Germany, definitely have to check that out.

I know it is perennial said that Snappy is expensive and oft said worth it, as a home mechanic with mostly all USA made Craftsman my only Snappy is the rando found in some bought tool box or coffee can of sockets or rare grage sale find. But in fairness they must build in a profit for the truck and the warranty of the tool countless times as a time paid line mechanic is going to abuse the tools and misuse the tools and a few will skip out on their financing to boot. I have with care managed to break one socket (1969 Chevy lug rusted on), mangle a few torx (Ford brakes) and had one ratchet give out (warrantied years ago to the newer style). So Snappy is not for my appilcation, but these Olsa look quite nice!

I got something similar on sale from O’Reillys they were something like $20 per rail maybe less maybe a couple bucks more but it’s the same sizes with the 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 but they weren’t designed for the wrenches. They look the same just without that Wrench feature.

Over $1.2k for the Snap-On set? lol... I mean, if people want to piss their money upwind, more power to them. I bought a huge DeWalt set several years ago for like $150 (on sale) and it has been amazing.
@bigpicturethinking56207 сағат бұрын
That snap on set has to be some sort of social experiment or control within their marketing and pricing scheme.
@mrweisuКүн бұрын
The snap on set is just a way for snap on to sell the bigger blue point set.

Sunex has something like this. All 3/8 drive, 8 pieces metric and 8 sae. Pretty good value too
@andrewscott889221 сағат бұрын
Best comparable sets to compare them to are the Mayhew titanium coated low profile. the mayhew are all 3/8 drive though

These look identical to the Astro Pneumatic Nano sockets I purchased previously. Astro metric hex set is 11piece for $51cad versus 9 piece olsa for $39.87cad. Astro SAE does not have a hex set and olsa is $39.87cad for 9 piece. Astro Torx set is 10 piece for $73cad versus 12 piece Olsa for 50.87cad. I think Olsa is a great deal and I love that this is a 🇨🇦 company. I hope they are compatible as I would love to use these with my astro nano ratchets.

Never could figure out why metric sockets or wrenches skip sizes on some brands.if I need the next size up on my magnetic socket rail and it’s not included? I have Metric wrenches, and 1/4” drive sockets with no skips, and some of them are Husky sockets!

I bought Olsa tools in the past from the company’s website. I just received an email from the Olsa asking me to buy their tools before February 1st as the company expected Trump to put tariffs on Canadian products, even though all of my tools are shipped from American warehouses.
@Olsatools17 сағат бұрын
Thank you for the comment! Regarding the tariffs, our team is actively working on finding a solution to minimize the impact on our customers.
@mikefisc998916 сағат бұрын
These bit sockets are made in Taiwan, shipped to U.S. warehouses, as you stated, and sold here. As far as I understand, these products won't be affected. However that isn't going to stop Canadian companies from complaining, or scaring people about the impending tariffs. If Canada is manufacturing some of Olsas' tools and importing them into the U.S. those tools will have a tariff applied. If someone has more info, or my understanding is incorrect please clarify for the benefit of everyone.

Snap on does not need to charge that kind of money they not it we know it how much does it really cost to make that set let’s say 250 idk you charge 150 for warranty little more for markup for franchisee right 1000 dollars cmon

They NEVER have any real stock of products on their Canadian site though. Ie: swivel head ratchets

Snap on makes some good tools, but that set is the worst value of all time. I have the mayhew stubby hex and torx sets which are pretty good.

everyone ranks on the New Craftsman V series ratchets for having back drag but you turned the head of the trash crapsman 1/2 turn that thing sounds like total garbage i own 28 of the new V series ratchets own them all 1/4 3/8 and 12/2 longs comfort grip and now shorts, stubbys fleg heads on the same noted they are excellent if you soak the heads in oil while using and extension of the head and running that with a drill check to get the lube into the head and break them in during this process once done these Craftsman V series ratchets are on oar with any top end professional wrench they are extreme heavy duty give them a look sounds like they are discontinuing the line of V series and discounts abide on amazon and ebay. Lowes had a massive sale last Nov when 180 ratchet was 40 bucks.
