Magnets are great for wall storage too. Added some strong magnets to some planks and hang them on french cleats, great for holding all kinds of metal tools

Another great review. Another product on order based on your suggestion. Thank you, Doc.

You know we all wanted to see all of those bits pulled out!lol That would have happened to any one of us by accident.

Heres a tip for any shooters looking for bit storage: I use the plastic inserts in 50-rnd boxes of pistol ammo. 9mm/ .380/ .40/ 10mm work great.
Westling Machining sells a all aluminum Driver Deck that is similar. No magnets but it has weight to keep it in place. I have it loaded with big and small bits. Price is minimal for what it is. Best for a toolbox drawer and not portable either.

That Olsa tool mat is great. Does it have a washable surface. Thanks for sharing that Doc

My old Rolex Air King would be toast around all those magnets.

Kind of related... have you ever seen or messed with a sheet of that 'Magnetic Viewing Film'? It comes in sheets and allows one to search for and 'view' hidden magnets. Interesting stuff! I've had a 3X3" sheet for maybe 10 years; still works great!
@lastbesttool4 ай бұрын
Yes. I have sheets and strips. If you make an eddy current in a copper tube with a neodymium magnet, you can watch the magnet's progress through the tube with the film. Pretty cool. Also fun to use on electronics because there are so many hidden magnets on edges, closures, and backsides.

Biggest problem I see is no one in the bit storage market makes a taller bit hold for 4 and 6 inch long bits and 1/4 hex drill bits. I have a ton of 1/4 hex shaft socket drivers and they just flop around in all the holders I have tried from olsa, ernst etc. If you store them sideways with toolgrid they just take up so much space.

Is that a 120 bit set by Olsa Tools? Or just an organizer? I can't seem to find it if its a whole bit set. Could you provide a link?
Snap On makes some really good Tools, but they also make some Turds. What do you think their Tool to Turd ration is?
@lastbesttool4 ай бұрын
Interesting question. However a Snap On turd is a much bigger deal than say a Harbor Freight turd. Probably a video in there somewhere.

The magnetic mat does not seem to be on their website. How much was it?
@daifeichu4 ай бұрын
On the Canadian Olsatools site it's listed for $39.87 Cnd. Part# 1300. I tried switching to the USA site but it didn't show up. They're based in Alberta, sort of near Doc.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY uses all of those bits. 90% of them will sit there and rust.

But it feels safe to have that many - for the “what if” situations.
