Thank you Sir! The sponge really did the trick for me. I was applying a lighter gray tone with it and glazed / washed the bright sprinkles down to a more subdued color to get a nice textured effect! Great tutorial!

Hi Dave, Thanks again for the updated tutorial, great info on the weathering effects and especially the extra tip on the metal buckle highlights. I know you're probably pushed for time but would've loved to see you paint the figure from start to finish. Regards Chris.

Great work. If you don't mind to answer one question. Do you use all acrylic paints and do you seal each coat with a clear? Cheers.

I do use all acrylic paints unless I am painting horses which then I prefer oils. I have never sealed any coats or final figure! Thanks for watching - Dave

Going to sound silly, I know you said worn wool effect but could you use this same method for a worn black t shirt? Sorry mate!

Very good question! Yes, I would use the same technique just more subtle! I other words, a bit less contrast. :)

Nice work!! Quick question: Do you thin your paints with the manufacturer's thinner or do you use something else? The reason I ask is I've heard people use all kinds of thinners; everything from water, rubbing alcohol, Windex, acetone or mineral spirts. Is any of those better than the mfg. thinner?
@Lastcavalry
@Lastcavalry 8 жыл бұрын
+Phayzyre105 - Thanks! I only ever use water when brush painting - never any need to use anything else . If you are airbrushing acrylics, however, use the manufacturers thinner.

Last Cavalry Historical Toys and Hobbies Really!? I'll have to give water a shot. I to only airbrush with the manufactures thinner and up till now brush painted with it as well. Thanks for the reply!

I've never heard of Andrea paints, could you recommend Vallejo equivalents?
@Lastcavalry
@Lastcavalry 6 жыл бұрын
You can use the gold from Vallejo and drake with black, lighten with white and wash with smoke for the buckle. Use various tones of Vallejo Black (lighten with Vallejo Flat Flesh) for the hat!
