I had to laugh at that comment about gaming from 10am until 4am the next morning. When I was younger, I would have my cousin over and we would be stuck in front of the TV for as long as we could be. I recall one specific time that we played Secret of Mana from Friday night until Sunday morning. I miss those days.

"You have no idea how hardcore I can be." Well, yeah I think maybe some of us have been tipped off over the past year watching your videos my friend haha. Amazing setup Joel, the attention to detail is certainly appreciated. I've wanted to turn my second bedroom/storage room into a gaming space but then I'd spend all my time locked away in one room! Some day perhaps but it would need the floor space for room scale VR. Just bought into that with the Oculus Rift and it's so immersive. Love the channel, cheers!

The attention to detail is just amazing. Also cool to see a modern PC,I think you could really enjoy it with the right games. Oh! and I love the edit as usual,I dig the kind of 80's vibe you tend to use with the 80's rock/Retro games. Just gets me pumped like when I was a kid lol

Glad to finally see the finished product. The room is awesome man, it came out really well. I'd live in there too if it were my room, lol. Now that you're done, do you want to come and organise mine? Haha. ;) You would think that would be easy since I don't have anywhere near the amount of stuff you do, but yeah I still struggle with my humble setup. But that's because I have to contain it all to my bedroom until I can move again hopefully sometime next year. Anyway, glad to see the simulators have their own little section. If I were one of the friends you mentioned who visited, I'd just be on those all day. I like the blue for the wall behind them, as well, but when you were talking about not knowing what to paint it the thought that came to my mind immediately was a chequered flag, because that's your little racing corner. However I suspect the black and white wouldn't go well with the rest of the room. The blue does. It looks great. Finally, it's nice to see someone else who cares about magazines. Everyone says print is dead and yet I love it every single time a magazine arrives in the mail. EDGE, Game Informer, whatever. It's still a small thrill and has been ever since I was a kid. I hope they never go away. :) Thanks for the tour and all of the videos Joel. They are highlights of the week for sure. :)

As an avid PC Gamer I only wanna say your PC config is more than decent & respectable but for decent PC Gaming in these days you should have proper audio system for your PC system too. Also the Razer is the "only way to go" can get only a huge NO from me but hey. It's your playing room, your opinion (& also you mentioned you prefer consoles instead of PC, you love your PC but wasn't a big PC fan earlier), so I can live with that. Anyway, keep up the great work on your playroom & game ON!^

I'd recommend getting the Corsair K70 Lux RGB keyboard, and Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum Mouse. Amazing, and beautiful keyboard, and best competitive wired/wireless mouse, it got faster response time than some wired competitive mouses, and it holds battery for days on a charge, and only take around an hour of being plugged in to recharge to 100%.

I saw your room tour but I stoped to point out that you might wana change out that cooler along with your keyboard and mouse even though you stated in the video that you didn't wana upgrade to often I just thought you should at least upgrade your "cpu cooler" because you might run into temp problems and id hate to see a fellow gamer run into an issue with their gamer peripherals......anyway just wanted to state and help you out room is bad ass though

I do the same thing with my controllers, but I don’t have a lot of space in my drawers, so the wires used to get tangled. That was until I got the idea from a couple of other KZbin videos to use ziplock bags, which obviously doesn’t look too great if they were stored out in the open, but in a drawer with limited space it’s a great cheap way to keep everything tangle free. Anyway, great game room! Wish I had something similar :D

i regularly see people with Mega SGs and things of that ilk, where they have all their consoles from 8bit to current gen all hooked up to one massive LCD display. and whenever you do that you will inevitably be making compromises somewhere. the reality is old games look better on old TVs, and new games look better on new TVs. i currently own 7 TVs in my house with a mix of CRTs and modern displays and the way joel sets his stuff up is exactly the best way to do it. a good CRT with RGB is 2d heaven.

Looks amazing! Not to waste your time, I'll get straight to the point. That computer chair.. It's gotta go hehe... Personally I love chairs that have built on adjustable armrests. Your table looks large enough for you to be able to rest your arms on, but if you wanted to kick back, then your arms would have nowhere to go and would be forced to either hang or sit in your lap. Not to mention it hurts your elbows when they rest on tables. I highly recommend looking on Wayfair dot com! They are a store very similar to IKEA. Be sure to seek for the armrests that are adjustable. Those are very comforting! Other than that, yeah wow you are the best and my favorite person on youtube.

9:50 another way is to coil it into a circle, it's neat and will never damage the where the cable mold enters the controller. Great collection, that must've taken quite a long time, and bet that 27" PVM cost a few grand, I've never seen bigger than a 20". What's it like dusting everything? I have one shelf with a Sega Saturn and PS1, it always gets dusty. Had to buy a new duster. P.S love the angled shelves, good idea.

You do realise that you're now one of the most envied people on the planet right? Oh, and personally I'd have an Atari 130XE in amongst the 8-bit computers to actually play rather than just have one for show somewhere else, but that's just me. And I reckon you're right about the Sony ZD9 TV - still for me the best all round TV in the world, and that includes OLED, which are still not good with HDR material as they don't go bright enough yet. Maybe in a few years, just not at the moment.

I'm certainly a fan of the Razer Deathadder/Zowie FK1 mouse for comfort. From a keyboard point of view there are far slicker looking options than Razer though. Google 'Geekhack Post Your Korean Keyboard' for some pretty if rather expensive examples. A website like Massdrop also have a lot of nice custom keyboards in a more moderate price range. Shipping to Australia is probably a bit crazy off that website but it'd give you an idea of what's out there in the mid-priced range.

9:35 When winding controller cables for storage: ____ Adding a recommendation to not loosely wrap until first allowing a short length of straight cord to squarely exit the controller. That wire bending at the controller body will accelerate wire breakage problems - an evident problem with controllers especially those with less than robust wiring such as the 3-mode Performance brand "Dual Impact" PS1 controller which has cabling I've only troubled myself once to fix then, using the lessons learned, simply sought alternative replacements.

I like the framed posters. You need more of that. But I think some VG posters will be even more work to track down than vintage movie posters; in the '80's you really couldn't get a hold of VG posters unless they were giving away in a competition as a consolation prize. Luckily, many of the vintage VG posters are online, in high res scans and can be printed out.
