Your so post to hold it the the floor close bleeder pump pedal till it stiffens up then repeat. Repeat about 3x. It's pretty easy.

UPDATE #1: I noticed a def difference in my pedal feel. But I could have expected that because I got 3-4 air bubbles out of my bleeder. Its a more solid pedal feel now. Especially at the top right when i start pressing it. The top used to have about an inch of sponge in it.

Thank you for the video. I know you have become very efficient taking apart items to access the pitch stop mounts and other projects. I can't even see this clutch slave cylinder with the engine cover and everything on, but from your video it gives me a great idea of where it is located. What all would I have to remove to access this bleeder screw? Can you recall if you show these details in your other videos? Thank you for the help.

In yours or anybody's opinion, would this be something to try for this?... My clutch in my 2013 WRX hatch is very very heavy. Dealership who I bought it from said it was a clutch from a mustang cobra. I honestly doubted this... as i figured the clutch was just worn in some way because on most mornings start ups, it creates a subtle rusty/whistle sound when depressing the clutch down. As well even while the car is off, the clutch has a sticking/rusted sound. Either way I'd like to lighten up the clutch back to the OEM feel. I know many actually like a heavy clutch feel, i just prefer a more quick and light/agile clutch feel. Would anybody know anything to try before completely changing out the entire clutch kit?
@LastHumansGarage5 жыл бұрын
when you go back to an oem clutch it will feel like there is nothing there. but.. the clutch may have been needed to put down the power without slipping..

whats the fluid capacity on the clutch/brake reservoir ?

if you are topping up from minimum to max, it's about 8oz. from completely empty to max, around 15oz

Awesome video! Quick questions, I’m going to perform the 30k service soon and the manual says replace clutch and brake fluid. I have a 17 Limited model so I think the procedure is the same as your car. How much brake fluid would you use if you bled the entire clutch? I saw your other video to replace all of the brake fluid from each caliper, so I’m thinking maybe two new bottles of the Subaru brake fluid should do it right? I’d rather do this myself than spend $250 to have the local dealership do the job. Thanks again for posting! Keep up the great work!
@LastHumansGarage6 жыл бұрын
2 bottles should be more than enough.

Same here at 29k now abd the clutch feels less firm than normal and after pulls it gets worse.
@robbiexiong35085 жыл бұрын
how about trying the same brake bleed trick. Suck some old brake fluid out of the reservoir into the catch can, stick one end of the tube under the old fluid, other on the bleeder, then open up the bleeder and go pump the clutch yourself. If the end of the tube is submerged in brake fluid, and the hose goes upwards then down into the bottle, it should not suck any air back in since the air should be at the top of the fluid in the tube. of course you'd need a longer tube and somewhere higher to hang the tube up, but it's worth if you've got no one around to do the pressing for ya.

my engine bay makes weird noise as I'm pressing/depressing the clutch. I also get the spongy feeling too. When I checked the slave and master cylinder, I don't see any leaks. Should I suspect the slave cylinder going bad?

So let's say your bleeding your brakes and your buddy is watching the brake reservoir and let's it get empty. Do you think it would cause air in the recivoir your bleeding?
@LastHumansGarage5 жыл бұрын
of course. you never want it empty or you are screwed.. the silliest thing is, you need a new watcher then. the whole point of a watcher is to NOT let it get empty....

Hey Lasthuman, great job! Can you tell me what is the size of the blue tube you are using
@LastHumansGarage6 жыл бұрын
couldnt tell you.. its silicone hose, about vacuum hose size. maybe 5/16" inner diameter. it stretches, so you can go a bit small and still stretch it over. prob 3.5mm I.D is also about right

I am going to be doing my clutch fluid within the next two weeks. I just finished changing my brake fluid today and the clear tubing I used for the brake calipers is: 0.170 I.D. & 1/4" O.D. -- This was for a 2013 wrx. Confirm if the nipples on the slave cylinder and brake calipers are the same.

my opinion? when its new really. but after 10k miles would be good too. you want to make sure the factory got a good bleed too. if the car was sitting a while on the lot it might have collected some moisture.

u pull it up w ur hand. with line closed it shouldnt get stuck at bottom. if it does, you still got air.

leave the bleeder open. pump the pedal up and down slowly with your hand while someone watches for bubbles at your hose on bleeder bottle.
