Whenever i put power and power bricks in attics I put the devices on a big ceramic tile. That wood is so dry up in a attic if the power brick or device blows it could start a fire. A 12x12 tile is cheap insurance.

i have a concern tho.. those ceramic tiles are heavy, if you mean the 1/4" to 1/2" thick ones.. i have nothing holding up my drywall between those studs. i suppose it would be ok long as no one steps on it. also i didnt plan to move my switch location, but i guess it would be easy if i can get it on a tile.

I run a ubiquiti WAP for the Dropcam (aka Nest indoor cam) and Nest doorbell and the cameras are very reliable.

lucky.. my wireless is strong, and my outdoor nest would disconnect 3-4 times a day. even with a dedicated wireless access point 20 ft away.
