The gears are fine. It's the bearing and/or the bronze bushing that holds the gear. The bearing is a 6000 2z. It's a sealed bearing. It can spin fine but the clearance is shot. The bearing can be pushed out from the inside. The lack of grease in yours, I'd bet it is the bushing. It can be removed and replaced. Tractor supply, Lowes, home depot sells them. I can't recall the size right off hand. I think it is 10mm od, 10mm long, and 6mm id. Change the bearing and bushing. And grease the hell out of it. $10 fix.

Agree, most lightly bad bearing from the sound of it.

Under that black ring it's a unsealed bearing from the looks of it. a few drops of oil will help cleaning all the dust out of there helped

i took it apart again, lubed it all, noise is even worse. very strange. its a mystery noise. the bearing spins smooth with no load.

Its probably the bearing, cutting bricks would have put excessive strain on it causing it to get loose, spinning it with your fingers is not getting it going fast enough.

prob right,ill replace it at some point. (the saw not the bearing) there are 3 bearings in that unit. 2 in motor side and 1 in gear side

I burned several such 5.5 circular saws. Add some grease into the gear box, it can work for another while. But eventually the motor will die. For a circular saw, the brush motor does not last too long. I have got a brushless one for 109 I remember, it's much better.

It's the sprocket. The metal is soft. If we can get a new harder replacement it will work
@LastHumansGarage

yes i already replaced the sprocket once with brand new. no change.

Ryobi's warranty is actually pretty good - I'd at least try to get a new tool vs. just buying a new one. I have the older (blue shell) version - I typically only use it to cut a quick 2x4" - much more and I get my 7 1/4" electric saw out.

Mine started making this noise after ripping 3 sheets of plywood and about a dozen crosscuts on 2x4's. Really disappointed in Ryobi durability. I have a dewalt 28v that is about 11 yrs old and even the original batteries still work. Bought the ryobi because I could have bought 3 of them for the price of one dewalt 28v replacement battery

ereplacementparts.com carries parts for tons of equipment. They have videos on repairs there and here on youtube. I just found out I can fix my ryobi corded circular saw for under $10. My saw is making the same noise. You should try some grease on the gears and a good cleaning throughout (remove and replace all lubrication). If you can't get the noise out, just use it until it quits. Watch for blade wobble. The brick dust might have gotten into some place and caused wear or the grinding. That would void your warranty anyway. Plastic saw, only good for light work!

You could use a drill to turn the gears, see if it makes noise at high speed

I bought a remanufactured Ryobi corded circular saw and the blade kept stopping, I realized the thread for arbor screw is upside down so it loosens itself during use. Ryobi quality has like everything else gone way down.
@LastHumansGarage
@LastHumansGarage 2 жыл бұрын
hmm which screw is an "arbor" screw, ill check mine out too. i just used it today in fact.. (not the saw in this video.. i threw that out long ago, i have a more modern ryobi now.,)

It's possible too that you've just worn down the gears or the bearings in the motor itself are worn and with no load it doesn't make the sound.
