Good news is that new classical architecture is rising!!! I hate modern glass architecture: soulless, hideous, unwelcoming.

Study architecture and study classical architecture so we can design and build great traditional architecture.

This is precisely why people flock to cities like Paris, Rome and Venice and not some glass tower-filled monstre cities. Excellent talk, thank you

I love architecture and this man is totally right. I think architecture today is losing tradition and culture. It makes me sad and little bit angry that unique architecture isn't being built much now. It is also sad that architecture is now a buisness rather than a job. When I become an architect I will show traditional design with a little bit of modern. I hope one day my designs can show people how old and new architecture can still work in the 21st Century.

Modernism states that architecture should be free of tradition

Do not add anything modern, but modern solutions.

Amazing video. One I completely agree with. I am a current architect student and I have seen the same problems. It is ugly when you drive past a new subdivision and all the houses are exactly the same. Like cookie cutters were used to make them. I believe it isn't just ugly, but poses a safely hazard as well. Thank you for sharing. You should talk to architecture students around the world, and revitalize the idea of beauty in architecture. My favorite building is the dancing house. It was built in the location that was destroyed by bombs during the world wars. The is what an architect is supposed to do, bring beauty and hope to the world. Not clutter it with ugliness that will soon turn into slums. It saddens me as well. Thank you again.

Fortunately, the Dancing House is far eclipsed (in terms of architectural beauty) by hundreds of other buildings in the same city, all far older of course. That said, it's one of about a handful of post 1940s buildings I could live with.

Daniel Rosales people like you give hope that the future won’t be another 70 years of hideous architecture.

Contemporary boxes are also damaging to mental health, as bland, monotonous, plain environments increase anxiety and depression

yes, another devastating effect it has is the unfortunate influence on the perception of beauty and aesthetics of the general public. I tend to think city dwellers are so deprived of beautiful and aesthetically appealing buildings, places, and spaces that they don't even know what beautiful can look like or feel like.

Excellent video and Marco Serra makes a good argument against mediocre architecture that's celebrated today. Building big for the sake of being big is the bane of society. McMansions today pollute the world since there is no beauty in the horrible monstrosities.

Really interesting talk, being a student myself I've always sense something is going wrong in modern architecture, it's boring and it's not appealing at all. People argue that minimalist and 'less is more' but does that really mean to have the modern architecture to be soulless or whatsoever. This video really put me into deep thoughts! Hopefully younger generations of designers are able to find a breaking point to this growing situation
