It’s amazing to watch this episode and see that the thing that aged the greatest is John’s prediction about the Chicago Cubs.

@jasoncourtneybrown72212 ай бұрын
He iis actually very respectful of all of his guests. Repubs who come on the show usually know what to expect, it's called EMPATHY. That is what the bad guys are lacking, concern for other people. Pretty sure he wouldn't have anyone on who didn't, that would be a flame-grilled roast.

This was still the beginning of his hero arc where he would spend loads of HBO money for a gag, and to make some uptight fuck crap himself for landing in the sights of John Oliver.

I love they started adding the full episodes. I always hated that I couldn't watch old episodes on HBO and could only watch the main stories on KZbin. LWT is great not just because of the main story and how they present the topic, but all the crazy crap John does in the rest of the episode

This man is a National treasure. It began, I believe, with Jon Stewart, when people actually went to a comic to learn their news. In that tradition, folks like Stephen Colbert, Seth meyers, Jimmy Kimmel and, of course, John Oliver, comics all, bring us our news and political commentary. (These are just a few, albeit the major players, so forgive me for leaving others out.) This brings me to a point. I feel that these comics / political pundits deserve special recognition, particularly in these times of tRump et al. Hey, I believe, or the major players in preserving our national sanity, and I feel that they, collectively, deserve the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Let them vote among themselves for the individual to receive the honor, as their representative. I believe the idea deserves a Closer Look.

I know this is quite an old episode, but I did a bit of research, and as of 9/30/2024, you can only buy 212 million tubes of Walgreens brand hemorrhoidal cooling gel for 1.7 billion. Thanks, Obama. This, of course, assumes you cannot secure a bulk discount, and that your local Walgreens has a truly absurd amount of cooling gel. In the more likely case that you will need to visit every Walgreens in the continental United States (sorry, everyone from everywhere else, I am only able to speak for the Walgreens I know, which is here in the states, so I don't know how accessible hemorrhoidal cooling gel is available in your country), the overall cost will be substantially higher, even before we consider storage fees. And this is why we need universal health care, because nobody should have to pay 1.7 billion dollars to take care of their hemorrhoids.
