I had saved this video long time back. This is undoubtedly a historic moment when two of the greatest Mangeshkars sing together. It is extremely difficult to follow & sing at the same pitch as Pt. Hridaynath, but we are talking about Maa Saraswati herself in person. She not only follows him but goes way beyond stretching her vocal chords to the máximum and yes she can do it even at the age of 70. If this is not divine power, then nothing is. All we mortals can do is salute this precious voice of the millennium and feel fortunate to have witnessed the phenomenon called Lata Mangeshkar. Long Live Lata!

Before Criticize Lata ji you need to understand Male and femal scale. Here Male scale is normal but female scale is very high. She sing this high pitch at her 70 live. In today playback industry no one can sing in this pitch with this powerful throwing. This is the reason Hridaynayh sir sing effortlessly while Lata ji Has to push her vocal cord beyond its limits.

Hrydayanath ji sang only this memorable song during this concert while the nightingale incarnation of Maa Sarawati sang thirty other songs too. I was a witness to this concert as one among the audience. Lucky me !

I heard this duet when I was 5 years old, at the time I didn't like the classical part. My dad used to play every time he was working. But when I grew up I adore this clip very much as I can see the joy the share , the music they share. Of course their voice too.

Actually this song at last part of concert and lata didi is tried singing almost 2 hours before this song and also concert start late than decided time due to some issue late coming of C. M Chandrababu naidu main guest of concert . She sing rassoll allah with full energy to match pitch of her brother but after starting yara sili sili she simply marvelous without so much effort. At end last Alaap show it.

There are absolutely no words to express what one feels on hearing them together. Even though the notes are so high, it never hurts the ears. I doubt it if any other mortal singer would even dare to attempt or reach such heights even if they try doing what they have done here. I have a shorter version of the same. The scale I think has been wrongly chosen. Lataji had to really struggle to pull off the aalap part in the beginning. Hridaynath Mangeshkar it seems chose the scale as per his convenience, which slightly affected Lata's performance. Sheer callousness on part of Hridaynath Mangeshkar. I wonder how she reached those sky-high notes at such an age. Goddess thou art, Lata didi! Love you to the moon and back. ❤️
