Her dedication, voice and perfection are unparalleled and would remain so for centuries to come! It is unbelievable that you are not among us! With tearful eyes, we bid adieu to Bharataratna Lataji! Om Shanti!!! You will remain in our hearts, forever!

Music has no geographical territorial linguistic cultural barriers. Lata ji is heart beat of billions not only in Indian diaspora but abroad as well. Very well sung by the melody queen proving her worth being a universal legend of very high calibre & level.

Lata didi has sung it beautifully ..her voice moves the soul and takes you into a different world. Anne Murray is the original singer but the notes that Lata didi hits brings tears and that is where she is different from the rest. It also proves she is the best not just in the Asian continent but one of the best in the World. There will never be another Lata Mangeshkar ever. We are lucky to see experience and hear her in our lifetime. Thank you God !

For all those who are being overly harsh and trying to downplay Lata Ji's attempt at this song...You all should know that this legendary woman sadly, couldn't complete her education because her father died when she was only 13 and hence, she had to go into show business early. When she started singing, she didn't even knew Hindi, only Marathi, so English was out of option! Despite all these hardships she became the leading female vocalist of India for over 5 decades. And all you can hear, is her English accent? How disappointing. I'm not saying you should blindly love this woman, but for someone who has achieved so much and is a legend in the entirety of South Asia, at LEAST you should express yourself respectfully. I BET Anne Murray (the woman whose song Lata Ji sang) can't even sing a single note of some of Lata Ji's Hindi songs like Apki Nazro Ne Samjha, Anne would kill her voice and career if she tries singing Lata Ji. At least Lata Ji put up a decent performance. She deserves credit for her attempt, even if it's not the best.

Remarkable. She always made a rigorous effort to practice, understand nuances and emote with her renditions. With training in idiom, phonetics and received pronounciation, her seven decade career would have given most international soloists a run for their fame... Lata was the background voice of our lives......and the silence of her absence in the soundscape of the last decade already had its impact as we were tortured by the abrasion of countless be-suras (unmusical) passing off as singers. The melodies they poured out amounted to nothing but head banging rhythms and snatches of limited refrains. They were no songs! One cannot but appreciate that Lata moved to devotional music in the last decade as she saw her path was littered with refuse and chose to transcend it spiritually. Her sister made valiant efforts to help us keep the framework of our memories unspoilt with her gutsy life, but who could withstand the soul less onslaught of the mindless technological pseudo musical trash? Are we to continue with life in the mute silence of the poverty of melody? Not at all! Lata (SurSaraswati- Godess of Musical Art) lives for ever in our hearts and minds as her melodies elicit every nuance of our lives through memory, events, places and occassions....there is no worthwhile aspect of our emotionscape that she did not memorialize through her extraordinary renditions; and so keep us alive and well. Thank you Lata, Hema, Hemlata, what ever you may call her. Your soul is so intricately linked with ours that we will never be without. 🙏🙏🙏❤️🎼

Charan Sparsh to our beloved Bharat Ratna Lata Didi. Here are the lyrics to this song.... I cried a tear, you wiped it dry I was confused, you cleared my mind I sold my soul, you bought it back for me And held me up and gave me dignity Somehow you needed me You gave me strength to stand alone again To face the world out on my own again You put me high upon a pedestal So high that I could almost see eternity You needed me, you needed me And I can't believe it's you I can't believe it's true I needed you and you were there And I'll never leave, why should I leave? I'd be a fool 'cause I finally found someone who really cares You held my hand when it was cold When I was lost you took me home You gave me hope when I was at the end And turned my lies back into truth again You even called me "friend" You gave me strength to stand alone again To face the world out on my own again You put me high upon a pedestal So high that I could almost see eternity You needed me, you needed me You needed me, you needed me

One thing I would really like to see to all the amateur singers, and you just cannot recite a song of Lataji by, just knowing the lyrics and the tune. Every song of hers is a lesson in itself.
