I understand what you guys are trying to say, but it's not always true. Some opera fans could careless if they can understand the singers. People from other countries can get into the music even if they don't understand the language. A lyric is just a sound that the vocal instrument produces, composed in a melody. Humming is just as effective as using actual words. In any case, if you can generate emotion from an audience, from producing sounds, whether playing an instrument or singing, you're a musician. Full pronunciation of a word is just limiting the creativity of the artist and how they can interpret words into feelings.

I am not familiar with Lia Marie Johnson, I know she has done videos with the fine brothers but I'm not familiar with her singing. Although she has a nice voice I think she needs to work more on the pronunciation of words as the way she sings them makes it hard to understand. +Emily Ann Rather than it being unique, I believe her lack of enunciation is a way of making singing easier. Humming is typically easier than singing a song (at least to most people it is) because saying each individual word affects your voice while humming has less of that affect.

Oh my word, people. IT'S A COVER. Everyone already knows all the damn words. Covers are meant to be unique to THAT artist. Plus, there are a billion artists out there who are quite successful and talented that don't always enunciate everything. It's called a singing voice.
