I can't think of many things that Japan has in common with Detroit, but I'm glad to know that whether you're in a Japanese grocery store or a plexiglass Bodega *everyone* puts the chocolate by the register to tempt us 🤣🤣

Yep 100% sure. I went to manny places and everywhere it looks same, sweets chewis and choccolate in front and veeeeeerry visible.... in Kosovo it even blocks the way 🤣

It's amazing to see the cost of groceries in other countries. I live in Los Angeles, and for chicken thighs its about $9-13 USD at my local grocery store. I seems its about double where I live!

The groceries prices are fairly cheap in Japan, tofu only approx $1 and especially the sushi at the start of the clips a box of already made sushi only costing approx $3.5 Australian dollar, whereas here you can only get 1 piece of sushi 😅

It wasn’t exactly sushi - just maki rolls…In Sweden, you get a large tray of fresh salmon nigiri, with unlimited wasabi and pickled ginger and soy sauce for 8 USD. The sashimi was cheap!

This is super cheap , Switzerland is so damn expensive you cant even imagine , for example if you buy 1 kg of Beef it costs you more than everything she bought combined .

as a Moroccan I'm really surprised about how expensive litteraly any veggie or fruit is ??? Here in Morocco products are freshhhhh and cheap ! + we do not sell them by pieces rather by weight, like for bananas it'd be $1 or so for a kg.. How do you manage to include such important elements ( fruits and veggies) into your life ?

The difference between japan and here in turkey, you dont look at the date of the products. Its so funny we never trust supermarket, and check it everytime if its expired or almost there.

I wonder whats your salary when you spend mabe arround 150 dollars for one grocery, and i read some ppl say youre lucky to buy so cheap.... Man im from Switzerland average salary here is 5000 dollars and the prices here are mabe lover🥶 we are one of the most expensive countrys and when i count what you have to pay per item🥶🥶🥶 You must have salarys like 700'000 - 1'000'000 Yen salarys.....

No no I’m also Swiss and I’m currently living in Japan, and wow the groceries here are soooo cheap compared to Switzerland. With the current exchange rate Swiss francs-Yen with like 8’000 yen I can buy a week of food (I live alone and I usually cook my meals), which are something like 55-60 francs. Dumb examples: a bento box here would be like 5 chf (and it’s a full and well balanced meal), max 2 francs for chips potatoes (I remember the Zweifel cost something like 5 francs depending on the packet size), and you can get 2 big pieces of salmon for 3.50 chf!! A lot cheaper :))

Sadly yes… but please also know that we are very strict with disposing. We separate our rubbish to different type and throw accordingly including plastic for recycle ♻️
